Aerospace company Firefly released fantastic POV footage of Blue Ghost landing on the Moon
We already knew that the aerospace company Firefly successfully maneuvered its Blue Ghost lander onto the surface of the Moon, but now we have some gorgeous video proof. The lander captured footage throughout the touchdown, complete with a cinematic finale. Check it out below.
The POV footage shows the lander descending toward the Moon and the subsequent landing. It ends with a striking view of Blue Ghost emerging from a cloud of dust as its shadow stretches across the lunar surface. It’s pretty darn cool, with surprisingly-crisp HD visuals.
The touchdown happened Sunday at 3:30 AM ET and Blue Ghost made its home in a region known as Mare Crisium. This isn’t the first commercial lander to make its way to the Moon, but was the first one to land properly. The mission was a joint effort between Firefly and NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, an organization that hopes to pave the way for an increased commercial presence on good ‘ole Luna.

Qualcomm swears it’s not worried about Apple making its own iPhone modems
When we look back on the iPhone 16e years from now, the thing we’ll all remember is that it was the first iPhone to use Apple’s own modem.
Even though the two companies have a testy relationship, Apple has historically relied on Qualcomm for modems. The C1 chip in the iPhone 16e is Apple’s first step toward breaking up with Qualcomm.

Apple is now fighting the UK over its demand for backdoor access to iCloud accounts
Apple has issued a legal challenge against the British government over a demand to create a backdoor for encrypted iCloud accounts, as reported by Financial Times. The company has filed a complaint in the hopes to reverse the order. The iPhone maker made its appeal to the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT), which is an independent judicial body.
This comes after a leak revealed the order from the UK government, which tasked Apple with building the aforementioned backdoor for iCloud encrypted backups. This was an attempt by the government to try to force the company to make data available to law enforcement. Apple didn’t acquiesce. Instead, the iPhone maker announced that it would end national access to the strongly encrypted version of iCloud storage, also known as Advanced Data Protection.
The 2016 Investigatory Powers Act is what allows UK authorities to demand access to encrypted accounts in this way, but it’s believed that this is the first time it has faced a legal challenge. The IPT has acc

Technics AZ100 review: Supreme sound quality and a unique Bluetooth tool
I wasn’t impressed by the last pair of Technics earbuds I reviewed. The AZ70W was the first set to carry the iconic turntable brand’s logo after Panasonic relaunched it in 2014. The 2020 model did some things well for $250, but inconsistent audio performance kept them from being a serious contender. The company followed up in 2021 with two more wireless earbud options, and 2023’s AZ80 was well-regarded by many reviewers for its sound quality.
For its 2025 model, Technics dug into its bag of tricks to improve the already mighty AZ80, resulting in the AZ100 ($300). These flagship earbuds offer all-new drivers, adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC), AI-tinged voice tools, Dolby Atmos spatial sound and one neat tool none of the competition does. And thankfully, the AZ100 makes good on the promise of “epic, reference-quality high-resolution audio.”

Apple Introduces M3 Ultra Chip With Impressive Performance, Up to 512GB of RAM, and More
Apple today unveiled the M3 Ultra chip, its fastest Mac chip ever released. It is available in the new Mac Studio.
The new M3 Ultra chip features up to a 32-core CPU, with 24 performance cores and eight efficiency cores. Apple says the M3 Ultra chip is up to 1.5x faster than the M2 Ultra chip, and up to 1.8x faster than the M1 Ultra chip.
In addition, the M3 Ultra chip can be configured with up to an 80-core GPU, and with up to 512GB of unified RAM.

Zelle scams lead Chase Bank to block some payments; government lawsuit dropped [U]
Update: CNBC reports that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has dismissed its lawsuit against the three lead banks, as the White House downsizes the consumer rights agency.

iOS 18.4 Brings RCS Support to Google Fi, Mint Mobile and Other T-Mobile MVNOs
The second beta of iOS 18.4 expands RCS messaging support to more carriers in the United States and other countries, according to multiple reports on Reddit, the MacRumors forums, and other social media sites.
After installing iOS 18.4, iPhone users with Mint Mobile, Google Fi, Ultra Mobile, Tello, and US Mobile are able to toggle on RCS messaging, and the functionality appears to be rolling out for all T-Mobile Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs).
iPhone users with a T-Mobile MVNO can be enabled through the Messages section of the Settings app. It appears that RCS access is only available for those running the second iOS 18.4 developer beta, not the public beta.
In France, Orange and Sosh also have RCS available with iOS 18.4 beta 2, according to iPhoneSoft, so RCS may also be rolling out worldwide for other carriers.
RCS was enabled for major carriers with the launch of iOS 18, and it stands for Rich Communication Services. &zwnj
