GTA V: Probleme mit Abstürzen und Freezes

The iPhone 5s is greatly outselling the iPhone 5c
OK, so we know that Apple sold a record 9 million iPhones over the weekend, but what you might find surprising is that data provided by analytics firm Localytics shows that in the US, the more expensive iPhone 5s is appearing a whopping 3.4 times more often than the iPhone 5c.
The chart at the top of this post shows that in the US, the iPhone 5s makes up about 1.36 percent of all iPhones activated in the US market across all carriers. For the iPhone 5c, the number is only about 0.31 percent. To quote Localytics, "That means that the iPhone 5s outshines the 5c by a factor of 3.4x, a clear indicator

News: Marshall Headphones intros Stanmore speaker
Marshall Headphones has announced the Stanmore ($400), a new Bluetooth speaker. Modeled after a vintage Marshall amp, the Stanmore also has analog knobs for control. A friendly reminder to former MobileMe customers: Free storage upgrade ends September 30
I knew something was up this morning when my wife sent me a Message saying that she had received an email from Apple about exceeding 5 GB of storage and functions would stop working after September 30, 2013 if she continued to exceed that amount. There's a reason for this: former MobileMe customers (those who may have a .mac or .me email account) received a 20 GB complimentary storage upgrade when they moved to iCloud. That upgrade expires next Monday -- September 30, 2013.
To keep things running the way they have since 2011 when the migration from MobileMe to iCloud occurred, you'll need to either reduce the amount of storage you're using or buy one of Apple's storage plans. Those plans include 20 GB more space (25 GB tot

iOS 7: How to get your Wi-Fi working again
In addition to battery issues, many of the complaints I've heard about iOS 7 center around Wi-Fi. After upgrading, many people are getting the dreaded "unable to connect" message. There is a solution that's been passed around on the Apple discussion forums that should work for most people. You'll need to spend a couple minutes with your phone and router.
Put your phone into Airplane Mode. Then, go into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then, reboot your router if you have access and take your phone out of Airplane Mode. You'll be prompted to join your network again, and it should work this time.

T-Mobile Moto X gets updated with significant camera enhancements

Verizon FiOS app now allows some TV viewing on the move
Verizon has released an update to its FiOS Mobile app, which now allows users of Verizon's My FiOS service to watch TV shows over cellular networks, instead of limiting them to Wi-Fi viewing in their homes. As noted in the app's release notes for version 2.0:

Popular Mac Campfire client Flint lands on iOS
Campfire is a very popular web-based chat and team collaboration tool from 37Signals that has spawned a number of apps that ease use of the tool on both Mac and mobile devices. Now one of the more popular native clients for Campfire on OS X, Flint, has been released as an iOS app at an introductory price of US$4.99.
Giant Comet's Flint for iOS is a universal app that is at home on an iPhone or an iPad, and it was designed to work with iOS 7. Push notifications can be set up for specific keywords, so if you need to be alerted of team conversations regarding a certain project or person, you'll get pinged through Notification Center.

Gartner schätzt: 102 Mrd. App-Downloads weltweit im Jahr 2013

Die Forschungsagentur Gartner hat Zahlen zum Sektor Apps und Downloads veröffentlicht. Demnach dürften 2013 weltweit insgesamt 102 Mrd. Apps auf den diversesten Smartdevices landen. Eine beeindruckende Zahl. Der App-Verkaufsmarkt wird somit auf 26 Mrd. Dollar geschätzt (19,22 Mrd. Euro). 17 Prozent des Umsatzes gehen auf die Kappe von In-App-Purchases. Der App-Umsatz dürfte die nächsten Jahre über weiter rasant steigen. Für 2017 wird ein Umsatz von 76,5 Mrd. Dollar geschätzt. Der Löwenanteil der Downloads (90%) laufen über den App Store von Apple und dem Google Play Store.

BlackBerry Receives Takeover Bid Worth $4.7 Billion or $9/Share
BlackBerry has agreed to a "letter of intent" to be acquired by Fairfax Financial, in a potential deal worth $4.7 billion or $9 per share. Fairfax currently owns 10% of BlackBerry shares. Fairfax Financial is a conglomerate holding company, somewhat like a Canadian Berkshire Hathaway. The company's primary business is insurance. Fairfax's CEO, Prem Watsa, was on the BlackBerry board of directors until he resigned from the position last month. The deal is far from complete, with "a number of conditions"

Apple adjusts its quarterly earnings outlook on strength of tremendous iPhone sales
In the face of pundits who thought Apple's iPhone success had plateaued, Apple sold a record number of iPhones this past weekend -- 9 million units to be exact.
In fact, Apple's iPhone sales this past weekend were so great that Apple this morning filed a regulatory filing with the SEC slightly tweaking its initial financial forecasts for the quarter.

Microsoft today unveiled the successors to its Surface line of tablets, announcing both the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2. The Surface 2 is an upgrade to the existing Surface RT tablet and includes a Tegra 4 processor, a 1920 x 1080 resolution, and 25 percent better battery life. The Surface 2 is both thinner and lighter than the original Surface RT, retaining the adjustable kickstand. Sky Live is the latest app from Vito Technology, the people who gave us the highly praised Star Walk app.
Sky Live is a (mostly) free app that will tell you if your local skies will be good for stargazing. It will let you know if moonlight will interfere with your star gazing, what planets will be up, if skies will be cloudy or rainy, and how bad the light pollution is at your location. It also lists the bright stars that will be up, but you'll need another app, like Star Walk to identify them.

The German hacking group Chaos Computer Club says its biometrics hacking team has discovered how to bypass the biometric security of Apple's TouchID fingerprint authentication through a simple method based on a rubbery duplicate of a fingerprint the group devised.The Chaos Computer Club demonstrated its method of tricking the Apple Touch ID sensor in a video it posted online showing how the Apple iPhone was easily fooled by a gummy copy of an individual's fingerprint previously used to access the smartphone. Over 11 million users tuned into iTunes Radio since launch
All in all, it's a great Monday for Apple. Earlier today, the company announced that it sold 9 million iPhones over the weekend, nearly doubling their previous launch weekend record. And in early morning trading, shares of Apple are up nearly 5%.
In keeping the good news train moving along, Apple also mentioned in its press release from this morning that over 11 million unique iOS 7 listeners have tuned into iTunes Radio, Apple's own take on streaming Internet Radio.
Over 11 million unique listeners have already tuned in to iTunes Radio since launch with the most listened to song being "Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake.

Dollar Store Accessories: Laptop Stand
Today's Dollar Store find is a laptop stand. The adjustable laptop stand offers a way to lend your MacBook a slight tilt for more comfortable typing for touch typists. It consists of four arms that swing out from a central hub, supporting the front and back of the laptop's lower half.
As Dollar Store finds go, this wasn't much of a success. Although the rubber tips for the back support worked well (you can see them at the top of the packaging), the lower arms with their black-tipped heads (they're there in the picture, just harder to see, to the right and left) worked less well.

Dank Haswell-Prozessor dürfte sich einer der größten Kritikpunkt an der (noch) aktuellen Version des Tablets zumindest zum Teil erübrigen: die Batterielaufzeit. Surface Pro 2 soll bis zu 75 % länger durchhalten. Das lässt sich sehen, war aber auch dringend nötig. iPhone 5s Outsells iPhone 5c by ~3.5x in Launch Weekend According to Analytics Data
While Apple announced record-breaking iPhone launch weekend sales of nine million units earlier today, the company did not break down relative sales of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Analytics firm Localytics has, however, shared some data on usage, revealing that among U.S. users the iPhone 5s is being seen 3.4 times as often as the iPhone 5c.In less than 3 days, the iPhone 5s and 5c combined now represent about 1.36% of the total numbers of all iPhones activated in the U.S. market across the top 4 carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile. From the data we are seeing, 1.05% of all iPhones in the United States are now iPhone 5s and just 0.31% are iPhone 5c. Fooling Touch ID may be possible, but calling it "easy" is a bold-faced lie
By now you've all probably seen the video that is currently making its way around the web claiming to show how easy it is to fool the Touch ID sensor on the new iPhone 5s. In it, a shaky-handed individual uses what appears to be a thin film of some sort to trick his phone into thinking he was using his correct finger, when in fact he wasn't. It's important to note that we're still waiting on the video showing the actual process -- which is obviously the more important part -- but for the moment we'll give the videos creators the benefit of the doubt.

Das Gerät ist genau gleich lang, breit und dick und verfügt über die genau gleichen Abrundungen und Kanten. Cases oder Docks für das iPhone 5 dürften also auch mit dem iPhone 5s kompatibel sein. Die einzigen beiden Änderungen sind der neue True-Tone-Blitz, welcher etwas mehr Platz braucht (hier könnte es zu Problemen bei eng-bemessenen iPhone-5-Cases kommen) und beim neuen Home-Button. Take a few minutes to pick out your color, capacity and carrier and then click on the "Check Availability" link to see the inventory at your local store. If the handset is in stock, you can reserve it for in-store pickup.
Apple offered this for the iPhone 5 last year, and it was an easy way to get an iPhone without having to show up at your local Apple Store before it opens each morning. If it works like it did last year, inventory levels are updated every night at 10 PM local time, and new stock becomes available to reserve at that time.

OS X update doubles 802.11ac Time Capsule's performance
Well, it took a while, but Apple has finally resolved whatever problem was causing wireless file transfers using its new 802.11ac MacBook Air and Time Capsule to be so slow. If you haven't already updated to OS X 10.8.5, do it now.When I benchmarked the new router last June, I noticed that real-world file transfers were much slower than the WiFiPerf benchmark indicated they should. iPhone sales go through the roof: 9 million sold this weekend
Apple has just announced it sold 9 million iPhones over the weekend. That is significantly higher than the 5 million iPhone 5's sold in their first weekend of release last year. As expected, Apple did not break down iPhone unit sales by model, so there's no way to know what percentage of that 9 million were iPhone 5s's and iPhone 5c's.
Either way, 9 million iPhones in once weekend almost doubles their previous record and shows there is no sign of waning interest in Apple's flagship devices. Apple Retail Stores Launch In-Store Pickup Option for iPhone 5s and 5c with Availability Listings
Apple retail stores have now begun offering a Personal Pickup option for the iPhone 5s through its online purchase page, allowing customers to see store availability for each model and place orders for in-store pickup. The move comes after Apple quickly sold out of its initial iPhone 5s online order stock following its launch on Friday, with shipping estimates in the United States falling to October. Das iPhone 5s wurde am Freitag zum Verkauf freigegeben und mithilfe einer Vertragsverlängerung bei der Deutschen Telekom hat es ein Gerät in die Redaktion von Macnotes geschafft. Wir möchten euch an dieser Stelle einen ersten Eindruck des Geräts liefern. Kurz vorweg: Mein vorheriges iPhone war ein iPhone 4S, also werden sich die gezogenen Vergleiche überwiegend auf jenes Modell beziehen. Hackers bypass iPhone 5s Touch ID fingerprint sensor using "easy everyday means"
Hackers in Germany claim to have already managed to bypass Apple's new Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology found in the iPhone 5s. Chaos Computer Club (CCC) on Sunday took to its website to reveal that it had used "easy everyday means" to bypass the fingerprint sensor and access a locked iPhone 5s. CCC claims to have photographed the fingerprint of the owner of the iPhone 5s from a glass surface and used that photo to create a "fake finger" that could unlock the iPhone. The hackers have posted a video to YouTube showing how they bypassed the Touch ID sensor, too.

First announced at WWDC, the newly launched category features apps curated by Apple's editorial staff, appealing to children of certain age ranges including sections for: "Best for Ages 5 & Under", "Best for Ages 6-8", and "Best for Ages 9-11."

Als in der vergangenen Nacht die EMMYs verliehen wurden, zeigte Apple am US-Fernsehen einen neuen iPhone-5c-Werbespot. Das Werbefilmchen ist fast identisch mit jener Werbung, welche Apple während dem Special Event am 10. September gezeigt hatte — ist jedoch etwas kürzer und beinhaltet ein paar neue Szenen.

Zwar war das Update für Apple TV zur Version 6.0 bereits draußen, allerdings scheint Apple das Upgrade wieder zurückgezogen zu haben. Alle, die noch nicht auf der 6er Version sind, werden also noch warten müssen. Von Apple gibt es keine Stellungnahme, User haben aber auf Twitter von Verbindungsproblemen und zufälligen Resets berichtet. Einige Geräte soll es gar komplett lahmgelegt haben. Apple zieht Apple-TV-Update zurück
Das am Samstag veröffentlichte Apple-TV-Update auf Version 6.0 führte bei einigen Benutzern zu grösseren Problemen mit der Settop-Box — so auch bei macprime.ch-Lesern. Apple hat das Update nun wieder zurückgezogen. Noch hat Apple jedoch keine Angaben gemacht, was fehlerhaft war am Update oder wie die damit aufgetauchten Probleme behoben werden können.
Mit dem 6.0-Update der Apple-TV-Software erhielt die Settop-Box neue Funktionen wie «AirPlay from iCloud», Zugriff auf den iTunes Musik Store, das Konferenzraum-Display und iTunes Radio (nur USA).
Zu den aufgetretenen Problemen gehörten neben Wi-Fi-Verbindungsproblemen auch Systeme, welche nicht mehr aufstarten wollten und nur mittels USB-Kabel wiederhergestellt werden können.

Wegen unerwarteter Störungen hat BlackBerry die für gestern geplante Veröffentlichung des Messengers gestoppt. BlackBerry rescinds BBM's release after false start
BlackBerry has delayed the rollout of Android and iOS versions of its popular BlackBerry Messenger app, which was expected to be available for the additional platforms this weekend.According to a statement on the company blog, an unreleased version of BBM for Android was leaked online before BlackBerry officially offered it for download. BlackBerry said that more than 1.1 million downloads occurred today, causing "issues" and prompting the company to delay availability. Chaos Computer Club überlistet «Touch ID»
Hackern des «Chaos Cumputer Clubs», kurz CCC, ist es nach eigenen Angaben gelungen, die Touch ID beim neuen iPhone 5s zu überlisten.
Als Ausgangspunkt diente dem Chaos Computer Club ein Fingerabdruck, welcher von einem iPhone-Nutzer auf einem Glas hinterlassen worden ist. Dieser Fingerabdruck wurde daraufhin mit einer Auflösung von 2400 dpi fotografiert und am PC nachbearbeitet. Die nachbearbeiteten Daten wurden schliesslich mit einem Laserdruck auf eine transparente Folie aufgedruckt. Durch das Aufbringen von Holzleim auf der Folie entstand anschliessend ein Fingerabdruckbild, welches nach dem Aushärten zum Entsperren des iPhone 5s genutzt werden konnte.

Apple veröffentlicht Apple TV 6.0 Update [Downloadlinks]
