CinemaNow adds Ultraviolet support to some of its movies
Bestbuy's CinemaNow has started to embed UltraViolet content into their video-streaming service. It's no huge surprise -- given that the retailer is a founding member of DECE -- but a good sign for anyone shoring up a collection of discs with UV digital content. Ihr habt es vermutlich auch schon bemerkt: seit ein paar Tagen ist das neue Google-Design auch in Deutschland aktiv. Seither ist das Menu horizontal über den Suchergebnissen angeordnet, und die Suchwerkzeuge sind in Drop Down-Menus untergebracht. Das ärgerliche dabei ist, dass man nun für manche Filterfunktionen drei statt einem Klick braucht. Dafür wird Platz geschaffen für den Knowledge Graph (Video nach dem Break), der Zusatzwissen zum gesuchten Begriff auflistet. Bei uns herrscht rechts neben den Suchergebnissen zwar noch gähnende Leere, aber Stadt Bremerhaven zufolge wird der Knowledge Graph zu

DIY: Funky Bassgitarren-Bot MechBass (Video)

Leider hören wir den Bassbot MechBass nicht solo, aber er spielt den Bass schon recht funky auf seinen vier Schienen mit rotierenden Plektren, die jede von einem eigenen MIDI-Kanal angesprochen werden. Die Einzelteile wurden von seinem Erbauer an der Victoria University of Wellington 3D-gedruckt und mit dem Lasercutter zugeschnitten und dann zusammengebastelt. Videos: Der LTE-Chip des Nexus 4 lässt sich aktivieren
Das LG Nexus 4 unterstützt LTE zwar nicht, verfügt aber, wie das Teardown von iFixit zeigte, über einen LTE-Chip von Qualcomm. Und der lässt sich trotz fehlender Signalfilter und -verstärker aktivieren, zumindest auf dem Frequanzband 4 der kanadischen Anbieters Telus und Rogers ist das so. Report: Samsung withdraws as Apple's battery supplier
A report in China Business News claims that Samsung SDI, the company's battery-producing subsidiary, has decided to withdraw from selling batteries to Apple, possibly in retaliation for various moves the iPad maker has made to reduce its dependence on Samsung as a supplier. Two other Chinese firms, Tianjin Lishen Battery and Amperex Technology, are said to be filling in for Samsung's absence in the iPad and MacBook lines of batteries, which Samsung SDI formerly supplied.

When the Google Chromebook, built by Samsung, appeared on the market about a month ago, the TUAW newsroom erupted in discussions about whether it would make a good low-cost computer or not. Black Eyed Peas artist Will.i.am is releasing an accessory that he boasts will turn a regular iPhone 4 or 5 into what he terms a "genius-phone."
