Ceramic Series 12 is Pricier to Repair Than Apple Watch Ultra 4
Apple reintroduced a ceramic case for the Apple Watch Series 12, but if you don't have AppleCare+, repairs are unusually expensive.
It costs $599 to fix "other damage," which covers any repair besides a battery replacement. Battery service is priced at $99.
Repairing a ceramic Series 12 is more expensive than getting an Apple Watch Ultra 4 repaired. That repair costs $549 without AppleCare+ (up $50 from the prior model). A repair for a cellular aluminum Series 12 of the same size is $349.
Apple Watch Series 12 models in the Pearl White or Night Blue ceramic options are priced starting at $899, while the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is priced starting at $799.
With AppleCare+, Apple Watch users will only need to pay a $69 service fee for damage to the ceramic Apple Watch Series 12 or $79 for the Apple Watch Ultra 4. Battery service is free if a watch's battery capacity drops below 80 percent, and theft or loss has a $119 deductible.

Mac's Edge Light Feature Rumored to Expand to iPhone
macOS 26.2 added an Edge Light feature to Macs with the M1 chip or newer, and it has now been rumored that this feature will expand to the iPhone.
According to pdfu, who has been digging through code in Apple's software updates in recent weeks, the iOS 27 Release Candidate contains evidence of the Edge Light feature coming to the iPhone Duo at a minimum. However, it appears that the feature is still in development, as they said the color temperature setting is not fully implemented.
On the Mac, Edge Light illuminates the borders of the screen to evenly illuminate your face in low-light conditions. The feature is essentially a virtual ring light, and there are settings to adjust the width of the white line around the screen and a color temperature slider to make the light it produces appear more or less warm.

Apple Rates iPhone 18 Pro Slightly Easier to Repair Than 17 Pro
Apple's repairability scores suggest the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are slightly easier to repair than the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple released the repairability data in a product information sheet required by EU energy labeling regulations [PDF].
The EU requires smartphone makers to self-rate repairability across categories like disassembly depth, fasteners, tools, spare parts, software update duration, and repair information. Each category gets a 0–5 score, which is combined into the overall index number. Here are the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max scores compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max scores.
Overall index - 3.14, up 0.10 from 3.04
Disassembly depth - 2.75, up 0.10 from 2.65
Fasteners - 3.80, no change
Tools - 2.55, up 0.50 from 2.05
Spare parts - 4.00, no change
Software updates - 1.00, no change (EU only awards a higher software core when manufacturers agree to support devices beyond the five-year minimum)
Repair info - 5.00, no change

Decision time: iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro & iPad mini
Apple has finally announced the iPhone Duo after years of guesswork, and it immediately replaced the idea of an iPad mini for a whole lot of people. There's a good argument for an iPad 18 Pro and iPad mini instead, for less money.Apple's iPhone Duo opens up to a size similar to iPad miniOpen, the iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch OLED display that is just a few tenths of an inch smaller than the current iPad mini's 8.3-inch IPS display. The iPhone Duo also has the added benefit of folding up when you don't need it, making it eminently more pocketable. That alone is enough to make some people throw their iPad mini to the curb. That may be the case for you, too, but the iPhone Duo isn't perfect. And there's still a place in the lineup for a tablet the size of the iPad mini. RIP, iPhone Ultra
For many months, tech blogs like ours used the name iPhone Ultra to refer to Apple's rumored foldable iPhone, but the device ended up being named iPhone Duo.
The name iPhone Duo was not a complete surprise. Daring Fireball's John Gruber accurately guessed that the device would be named iPhone Duo all the way back in April, and the name made the rounds again on social media last week.
iPhone Ultra became the more common name in rumor coverage after Bloomberg's Mark Gurman floated it as a potentially fitting name for the device back in March, and he later reported that many Apple employees referred to the device as the iPhone Ultra. Plus, former Macworld reporter Filipe Espósito cited a source familiar with Apple's plans who said the foldable iPhone would be named iPhone Ultra. Evidently, that source was wrong.
To his credit, Gurman ended up confirming the iPhone Duo name in a last-minute report published shortly before Apple announced the device.

Upgrading to Apple Watch Series 12 Could Cost You Hypertension Notifications
Some Apple Watch users who upgrade to the Series 12 or the Ultra 4 might temporarily lose access to hypertension notifications.
On the watchOS feature availability page, Apple says notifications might not be available on the Series 12 or Ultra 4 at launch because regulatory clearances are in process.
Hypertension Notifications may not be available on Apple Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4 in your region, as additional regulatory clearances for these devices are in process.
The warning applies to 33 countries and regions, including Canada, Australia, India, Brazil, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, South Africa, South Korea, and the UAE, with a full list on Apple's website.
The Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 have revamped sensors and a new Health Sensing System. Apple added new optical and electrical heart sensors for more frequent and accurate tracking, and the change appears to require new regulatory approval in some locations.

iOS 27 Apple Health App Redesign: Every New Feature Coming in 2026
Apple is planning a major redesign of the Health app on iPhone and iPad, with a long list of new features set to be added. Apple announced the Health app changes at yesterday's iPhone event.
The Health app is getting an update because Apple overhauled the sensors in the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. There's a Health Sensing System with three main improvements: increased electrode surface area for better skin contact during ECG readings, redesigned photodiodes arranged in a ring to capture light more efficiently for optical sensing, and power-efficient green LEDs for capturing continuous heart rate data.
The new watches take heart rate readings every five seconds throughout the day, and more frequently measure heart rate variability (HRV). All of the data collected is sent to the Health app on iPhone. Apple says in a head-to-head study against other wearables using an ECG chest strap as reference, the new Apple Watch had the most accurate heart rate sensing.

Apple Watch Series 12 Received a Price Increase You Might Have Missed
Ever since the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2018, the larger-sized aluminum Apple Watch has started at $429 in the U.S., but that has changed with the Apple Watch Series 12.
While the Apple Watch Series 12 with a 42mm case maintains a starting price of $399, the 46mm model has received a $20 price increase and now starts at $449.
In other words, stepping up to a 46mm case now costs an extra $50 instead of $30.
Apple products are getting more expensive lately. Amid a RAM chip shortage, the company raised prices on several existing iPhone models this week, after raising prices on Macs, iPads, HomePods, the Apple TV, and more in June. Plus, the starting prices of the iPhone 18 Pro models are $100 higher in the U.S. compared to the iPhone 17 Pro models.

AppleCare One Family vs. Individual: which plan makes more sense?

Ceramic Apple Watch Series 12 Is Bigger and Heavier Than Other Models
Apple Watch Series 12 models with a ceramic case are physically larger than the same model in aluminum or titanium, according to Apple's own tech specs.
At 46mm, Apple's tech specs page lists the aluminum and titanium case at 46mm by 40mm by 9.7mm, while the ceramic case sold under the same 46mm name measures 47mm by 41mm by 9.85mm, a millimeter taller, a millimeter wider, and 0.15mm thicker. The 42mm size follows the same pattern: 42mm by 37mm by 9.7mm for aluminum and titanium, versus 43mm by 37mm by 9.85mm for ceramic, a millimeter taller and 0.15mm thicker, with the width unchanged.
The display is unaffected. Apple lists the same 1,196 sq mm display area at 46mm and 970 sq mm at 42mm across all three materials, meaning the extra size is entirely case, not screen.
The ceramic models are also heavier. At 46mm, the Pearl White ceramic case weighs 51.3 grams and Night Blue weighs 52.9 grams, against 39.5 grams for the equivalent aluminum model and 44.9 grams for titanium, up to 34% heavier than alu

Skipping the iPhone 18 Pro? Redesigned 'iPhone 20' is Coming Next Year
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro models just one day ago, but there are already rumors about a redesigned "iPhone 20" launching next September.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple plans to release a special 20th-anniversary iPhone next year with the biggest design changes since the iPhone X. Of course, there is always a new iPhone around the corner, but it sounds like the so-called "iPhone 20" will have significant changes that some customers may wish to wait for.
Unveiled by Steve Jobs in 2007, the iPhone turns 20 next year. To mark the occasion, the report said Apple plans to release a 20th-anniversary iPhone with "curved glass around all corners and edges" and thinner bezels around the screen.
"It will be the biggest overhaul to what is now the iPhone Pro line since the iPhone X," the report said, but no further details were provided.

Apple Watch Series 12 Has Smaller Screens and Bigger Cases
The Apple Watch Series 12 pairs a smaller display with a wider case than Series 10 and Series 11, even though the pixel resolution hasn't changed, according to Apple's own tech specs.
For the 46mm Series 12, Apple's tech specs page lists the display area at 1,196 sq mm, down 2% from 1,220 sq mm on Series 10 and Series 11. The 42mm size shows a similar 1.9% drop, from 989 sq mm to 970 sq mm. Pixel counts are identical across all three generations: 416 by 496 at 46mm, and 374 by 446 at 42mm.
The case grows as the screen shrinks. Apple's Series 12 tech specs list the 46mm case at 46mm by 40mm by 9.7mm, a millimeter wider than the 46mm by 39mm by 9.7mm case on Series 10 and Series 11, a roughly 2.6% increase in case footprint. The 42mm case grew from 42mm by 36mm to 42mm by 37mm over the same span, about 2.8%, with depth unchanged at 9.7mm for both sizes.

Why iPhone Duo's Under-Screen Camera Isn't in the Corner
If you're wondering why the under-screen camera on the iPhone Duo's inner display isn't placed in the top-right corner, Chinese leaker Instant Digital has provided an explanation.
"The iPhone Duo's under-display camera wasn't placed in the top-right corner of the inner screen because of engineering difficulties," said the leaker in a Weibo post this morning. "The next generation will likely move it there, aligning it perfectly with the outer screen's camera." That sounds like a real engineering challenge, since the opposing rear cameras are the thickest things in the whole phone, but let's wait and see.Related Roundup: iPhone DuoTag: Instant DigitalThis article, "Why iPhone Duo's Under-Screen Camera Isn't in the Corner" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

Apple Isn't Revealing the iPhone Duo's Under-Screen Camera Resolution
Hidden beneath the 7.6-inch inner screen of the foldable iPhone Duo is an under-display FaceTime camera. The long-rumored feature is a first for Apple, yet the company hasn't provided as much detail about it as the device's other cameras.
For example, unlike the 12-megapixel sensor on the outer front display and the two 48-megapixel lenses on the back, Apple has not revealed the megapixel count of the under-screen camera. Apple's tech specs page for the iPhone Duo offers the following details about its capabilities:
Under-display FaceTime camera
Center Stage for video calls
ƒ/1.8 aperture
Tap to zoom and rotate
Ultra‑stabilized video
1080p video recording at 30 or 60 fps
Animoji and Memoji in FaceTime
Wide color capture for photos and Live Photos
Lens correction
Auto image stabilization
QuickTake video at 1080p at 30 fps and 60 fps

Siri AI is so close to being useful, and iPhone Duo's A20 Pro could be the secret sauce
Apple's newly announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo both use a new A20 Pro chip, and it could be the key to Siri AI taking the step from being full of potential to being the game-changer we were promised.Siri AI is comingSiri AI has been part of Apple's iOS 27 beta testing process since its June WWDC debut. It's also available in Apple's beta software across its other hardware platforms. It'll be available to the public on all of those platforms before the end of September. But Siri AI itself will remain a beta feature for the foreseeable future. Apple knows that it has some way to go. Certainly, there's some work to be done before it can meet the lofty expectations Apple left us with following that WWDC unveiling. iPhone Duo Has Similar Main Camera to iPhone 17e
Apple's tech specs suggest the iPhone Duo's Main camera sensor is seemingly a match for the iPhone 17e's, not the standard iPhone 17's.
According to Apple's tech specs page for the iPhone Duo, the Main camera is a 26mm, ƒ/1.6 sensor with sensor-shift optical image stabilization and Hybrid Focus Pixels, also enabling a 12MP 2x Telephoto crop from the same sensor. The iPhone 17e's tech specs page lists an identical 26mm, ƒ/1.6 Main camera with Hybrid Focus Pixels, the same autofocus terminology Apple uses for the iPhone Duo.
The match is not total, though. The iPhone 17e's tech specs describes plain "optical image stabilization" with no "sensor-shift" qualifier, while the iPhone Duo's does include it. That detail instead lines up with the standard iPhone 17's tech specs page, which pairs sensor-shift OIS with a different autofocus term, "100% Focus Pixels," the wording iPhone 18 Pro's tech specs page also uses but Duo and 17e do not.
This suggests that the Main camera of the iPhone Duo realis

iPhone Duo is typical Apple - never first, usually best
Apple has been practically mocked for how many years it has taken for it to release a foldable iPhone, but yet again it's proven it knew what it was doing all along. It took 15 years from the patent on the left to the iPhone Duo on the right - images credit: Apple.Think of the iPhone. Or the iPod, the Mac, the iPad, AirPods, AirTags, the Apple Watch Actually, try to think of anything where Apple was actually first to market.Apple wasn't even the first company to make a laptop Mac. To even arguably find a product Apple made first, you have to go back to the Apple II. Even then, as revolutionary as it was, there had been computers before it. iPhone 17 Pro vs. iPhone 18 Pro: 35+ Upgrades Compared
Apple yesterday announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, succeeding the iPhone 17 Pro that launched last September. The new models are built around the A20 Pro chip, a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, a redesigned vapor chamber, and a smaller Dynamic Island.
Last year's iPhone 17 Pro brought one of the biggest design changes to the lineup in years, switching from a titanium frame and glass back to an aluminum unibody with Ceramic Shield 2. With that overhaul out of the way, this year's update is more about what's inside the phone than a new look, focused on the chip, camera, and battery rather than another redesign. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, which shares nearly all of these changes, also gets a battery capacity increase of its own, delivering the largest jump in battery life in the iPhone's history.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, up from the iPhone 17 Pro's $1,099 starting price. Our guide breaks down every difference between the two generations t

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 Have Increased RAM Without Price Increase
MacRumors has confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 have increased RAM compared to the previous-generation models.
Both new models are equipped with 4GB of RAM, according to Apple's developer tool Xcode 27.
Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 models are equipped with 2GB of RAM, so the Series 12 and Ultra 4 have twice as much memory.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 models are equipped with a new S11 chip that powers new Apple Intelligence features when the watches are paired to an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. The increased RAM will help to enable these new functions, such as Sound Recognition, Live Rewind text snippets, and Siri Recap summaries.
Despite a severe memory chip shortage that has driven up the price of RAM and resulted in Apple raising prices on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more in recent months, the Series 12 and Ultra 4 start at $399 and $799 respectively in the U.S., meaning the devices have the same starting prices as the Series 11 and U

Apple Considering Ads Inside Visual Intelligence, Code Suggests
Apple may be exploring a way to let search providers show sponsored results inside Visual Intelligence, according to code uncovered in iOS 27.
The find comes from MacRumors' Aaron Perris, who said in a post on X that the code points to Apple allowing search providers to insert their own sponsored results into Visual Intelligence, rather than Apple selling the ad space itself. He compared it to the sponsored product listings already seen on Amazon and Google. It is not clear whether Apple would take a cut of ad revenue.
The feature would let third party search providers, such as Google, insert items such as sponsored product images alongside the organic results Visual Intelligence already returns when a user points their camera at an item to shop for it. That would set it apart from the advertising pushes Apple has driven directly in its own apps over the past year.
Apple has been steadily expanding its advertising business across the App Store and Maps. The company began showing additional sp

It takes about a 15% increase in speed for the average user to see a difference between devices. iOS 27 RC Adds Long-Rumored Camera App Controls Customization
In the iOS 27 Release Candidate that Apple released to developers on Wednesday, Apple added the long-rumored ability to customize the Camera app's controls. Way back in May, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple planned to make the Camera app more customizable, but it's only now that the feature has made it into the beta roadmap.
To customize the Camera app's controls, tap the button with six circles inside in the bottom-right of the Camera's UI and look for a new Edit button in the top-left corner.
From the new "Add Photo Controls" tray that appears, you can add or remove the widget-like controls to the top of the Camera app's UI, then press Done in the top right when you're happy with your selection. Depending on your iPhone model, you can choose from the following controls:

Apple Details How iOS 27 Adapts to iPhone Duo's Displays
Apple has detailed how iOS 27 was rebuilt to adapt in real time to the iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable iPhone, reshaping the interface as the device folds, unfolds, and switches between its two displays.
Lock Screen controls, the Dock, and app navigation elements now sit along the side of the display instead of across the bottom, freeing up vertical space for content. When open, the iPhone Duo shows two Home Screen pages. The status bar is now a circular, flexible system that fits into the corner of the screen, and the Dynamic Island runs vertically along the side of the outer display.
The interface also changes based on the device's angle. It reorients when the phone is turned on its side and switches to the appropriate display when flipped over. Apple said building this required changing how individual apps lay out content as the screen changes shape, including moving the Dock to a vertical orientation. Controls stay anchored to the side of the screen throughout, and the Lock Screen mov

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Benchmarks Reveal Speed of A20 Pro Chip
Early benchmark results for the A20 Pro chip in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max appeared early this morning in the Geekbench 6 database, offering us a first look at the new models' CPU and graphics performance ahead of the devices reaching customers.
Based on these early results – which are unconfirmed – the A20 Pro chip across the Pro models appears to deliver around 21% to 23% faster performance in single-core and 27% to 28% faster performance in multi-core than the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro. It's a pretty impressive jump.
The iPhone 18 Pro result lists a single-core score of 4,719 and a multi-core score of 12,677, while an iPhone 18 Pro Max entry delivers similar results, scoring 4,725 and 12,575, respectively. Both identify a six-core CPU running at approximately 4.93 GHz.
There are similarly formidable gains on the graphics side for the A20 Pro. Based on early Metal scores in the Geekbench 6 database (also unconfirmed) the full 7-core GPU variant of the chip in the iPhone 18 Pr

iOS 27 to Upgrade Apple TV Remote App in Two Ways
Apple has updated the design of the virtual Apple TV Remote for the iOS 27 Release Candidate, which was released yesterday, and there are two new features that have been added to the iPhone app's interface.
First up, Apple has added a new button to the top-right corner of the Remote UI with a glyph showing four squares. Pressing the button pops out an app menu similar to the Apple TV home screen that allows you to quickly select an app and launch it.
Second, you can now drag down from the top of the virtual trackpad with your finger to reveal the Apple TV's top shelf carousel, where shows in your watch list are displayed, along with shows that you've started so that you can continue watching.
The two new features, hidden behind feature flags, were discovered by MacRumors and later demonstrated on X (Twitter) by code sleuth "pdfu."

Ein brasilianischer Modder hat diese Lücke auf eigene Faust geschlossen. Seine Grafikkarte vereint allerdings Bauteile zweier Modelle und geht beim Speicher einen Schritt zurück.

Hands-On With the iPhone Duo: The Crease is Still There, But Barely
After today's iPhone event, Apple invited members of the media to test out the new iPhone Duo. We were able to take a look, and we have some initial thoughts to share.
Subscribe to the MacRumors YouTube channel for more videos.
The iPhone Duo is priced starting at $1,999, and it feels like it. This is a premium device that's thin, but feels sturdy. The outer display is 5.4 inches, so it's smaller than the iPhone 18 Pro when it's closed, but the inner display is 7.6 inches.
Apple used a nano-texture polymer for the inside display, and the material cuts glare but also reduces the visibility of the crease. The display layer has a micro lens texture written pixel by pixel using maskless laser lithography for a perceptually flat, matte surface. It does indeed minimize the look and feel of the fold in the middle of the iPhone Duo.
You can still see the crease and it's visible in certain lighting, but Apple did a better job than Samsung at hiding it. Of course, foldable creases can become more visible as a

iPhone Duo supports Apple Pencil with USB-C on both displays
Apple couldn't quite get Apple Pencil Pro to work with iPhone Duo, but Apple Pencil with USB-C pairs fine over a cable and brings its basic functions to iOS for the first time.Apple Pencil with USB-C works with iPhone DuoA rumor in late August suggested Apple tried and failed to include support for Apple Pencil on its upcoming foldable. The issue was apparently with where the Apple Pencil would need to mount for charging interrupting the ease of opening and closing the device. It would have been disappointing to get such a large display without Apple Pencil support, but Apple did find a way with iPhone Duo. The Apple Pencil with USB-C is compatible with iPhone Duo thanks to its ability to pair and charge over a cable. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

iPhone Duo is Dust-Tight With IP68 Rating, Unlike Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8
The iPhone Duo has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, beating Samsung and tying Google.
Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold8 models have an IP48 dust and water resistance rating, which means they aren't able to hold up to dust as well. Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold also has an IP68 rating.
IP6X for dust means the iPhone Duo is "dust-tight" and no dust is able to get in. The IPX8 rating for water means it is protected from water deeper than 1 meter. Apple says the device can handle a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. IP68 is the same dust and water resistance rating as other iPhones, and dust matters because it can get into the hinges of foldables and cause damage.
Apple warns that water and dust resistance "are not permanent conditions," and resistance can decrease as a result of normal wear. iFixit will likely do a teardown on the iPhone Duo, and we'll see how it holds up to dust.
The iPhone Duo has other durability features, including a titanium frame, titanium hinge cover, and 10

iOS 27's 'iPhone Handoff' Feature Limited to T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom at Launch
Apple is adding a new iPhone Handoff feature in iOS 27 that will let you use the same number on two iPhones and swap between them as needed. iPhone Handoff requires carrier support, and Apple says there may be carrier fees when setting it up.
The new iPhone Handoff option was mentioned at today's event and in the iPhone Duo press release, and it turns out it's going to be limited at launch. Apple says it will only be available on T-Mobile in the U.S. and Deutsche Telekom in Germany when iOS 27 comes out.
To use iPhone Handoff, you need two iPhones running iOS 27 or later that are connected to Wi-Fi and signed into the same Apple account with FaceTime, iMessage, and Messages in iCloud turned on.
iPhone Handoff can be enabled during new iPhone setup, or in the Settings app. When you set up a new iPhone, you can make your current iPhone your secondary iPhone.
With iPhone Handoff enabled, one iPhone is the main iPhone and the other iPhone is the secondary iPhone that shares the same number. Some

Apple Explains What's Inside the iPhone Duo's Folding Screen
The iPhone Duo's inner display uses a complicated, multi-layer structure that Apple says will hold up to wear and tear.
There are 10 ultrathin layers in total, including a nano-textured cover layer made from a custom polymer that Apple says is up to 40 percent stiffer than "other materials used in the industry," which presumably means other foldable devices.
Apple added high-strength glass above and below the folding display panel, along with a titanium plate at the bottom of the stack. Custom adhesives "allow the layers to glide past one another like the pages of a book, relieving bend stress," according to Apple.
The exterior nano-texture layer's finish is meant to reduce glare and minimize the visibility of the crease, and a scratch-resistant coating covers the nano-texture layer.
The outer display is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 like the iPhone 18 Pro models, while the back of the iPhone has Ceramic Shield. The inner display gets the custom polymer cover instead of Ceramic Shield.

How iPhone Duo compares in size to the iPhone 18 Pro in the wild

Apple's keynote was great about feature demonstration, but less so about real-world size and hand-feel. iPhone Duo Beats iPhone Air as Apple's Thinnest iPhone, But Only When Open
The new foldable iPhone Duo is the "thinnest iPhone ever," according to Apple. When unfolded, the device is 5.2mm thick, making it 0.4mm thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air.
Rumors suggested it could be as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8, but it didn't end up that thin. At 5.2mm, it's just a little bit thicker than the 5.1mm 13-inch iPad Pro, which is Apple's thinnest device.
When folded, the iPhone Duo is 11.3mm thick. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro Max are both 8.75mm thick.
The iPhone Duo is also Apple's heaviest iPhone to date at 254 grams, which is five grams heavier than the 249-gram iPhone 18 Pro Max. It has a 7.6-inch inner display when it's open and a 5.4-inch outer display when it's closed, and it has a short, wide design.

Here's What Apple Says About the iPhone Duo's Crease
Ahead of the launch of the foldable iPhone Duo, rumors suggested Apple was focused on eliminating the crease between the device's two displays. All foldables have a visible crease, and it often becomes easier to see over time from constant folding and unfolding.
On the iPhone Duo product page, one of Apple's FAQs concerns the crease. "Does the inner display of iPhone Duo show a crease where it folds?" reads the question.
Apple's response says the display is "wonderfully flat and smooth," but it doesn't say there's no crease at all and actually skirts the question it asks.
iPhone Duo features a wonderfully flat and smooth inner display with custom nano-texture finish technology to reduce glare and reflections for an uninterrupted viewing experience. The optically clear adhesives let the display layers glide as the screen folds, minimizing stress and crease.
In the press release for the device, Apple says that the Duo's nano-texture display is meant to minimize the visibility of the crease.
