Twitter has been actively recruiting for a long-expected revamp of its mobile apps. One listing would get multiple positions for developing a "cutting edge" Android app. The microblogging site wouldn't have had trouble getting help for its iOS app, as leaks emanating from TechCrunch suggest spots for reworking the app had already been filled.

Australian, European carriers irked over iPad 4G badging

Apple's emphasis on LTE support for the new iPad is sparking a conflict with carriers outside of North America, according to statements given out later on Friday. Co-founder of TiVo and CTO Jim Barton has long outlasted our deathwatch, but his time as an executive at the DVR maker quietly came to an end this week according to documents filed with the SEC. CEO Tom Rogers thanked Jim for his "commitment to innovation" in a statement, and the filing indicates he will stick around as a $25,000 per month consultant in "patent matters and litigation" among other things -- nice work if you can get it -- until March 15, 2015, but his reason for stepping down is unspecified. US Navy LASR research facility builds robots, not ray guns

The US Navy announced a new robotics research facility this week located within the existing Naval Research Laboratory's main site in Washington D.C. The International Trade Commission issued a final ruling (PDF) later on Friday upholding its view that Motorola didn't violate Apple patents in one dispute. It reviewed one concern each for the three patents under dispute but maintained the verdict it had delivered in January. The verdict was coming two months ahead of an original May 14 target.

Final ITC ruling affirms Motorola Mobility didn't violate Apple's patents

The preliminary decision already determined that, in this case, Motorola Mobility hadn't violated any of Apple's patents with its Droid series, and now a final review has affirmed those initial findings. While this might not be a massive turn up for the books, it does close the doors on at least one big name patent dispute. That said, Apple can appeal to the Federal Circuit, and given that it has done before, it's likely the iPad maker will do so here. But, for now at least, it's cork popping time over in Libertyville.

TVE sues Apple over digital video in iTunes, iOS

TVE (Trans Video Electronics) has filed a suit in the District Court of Columbia accusing Apple of violating two of its patents related to the way Apple distributes digital video in iTunes. In addition to a second developer preview of Mountain Lion released earlier today, Apple has given developers the first external beta of OS X Lion 10.7.4. The 508MB delta, which is labelled build 11E27, would be the fourth maintenance update to OS X Lion. A pre-trial hearing Friday over insider trading has leaked word that at least one Goldman Sachs member is known to have been leaking information about Apple and Intel. UBS does survey of iPad-awaiting crowds in NYC

Infrared microscope inspection of Apple's new A5X processor revealed that the chip was designed and built around Samsung's 45nm low power architecture, which is currently used in A5 processor found in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

New iPad looks show iPhone 4's camera, huge graphics core

The new iPad is borrowing familiar parts and suppliers to reach its goals, Chipworks and UBM TechInsights found separately in new examinations on Friday. Apple's back camera is using the OmniVision OV5650, the same five-megapixel CMOS sensor used in the iPhone 4. Any improvements in image quality come mostly from the lens elements, which come from the more recent iPhone 4S.
