Apple, Siemens, Sisvel force booth shutdown at CeBIT

Apple, Siemens and technology licensor Sisvel together were reported as having forced an exhibitor to shut down an exhibitor's booth at CeBIT. The three had the unnamed e-reader and netbook maker's floor space cleared out on Friday after they alleged that the company violated patents. Lawyers for Apple, Siemens and Sisvel are said to have visited the company's booth on Thursday and levied a 10,000 euro ($13,626) fine in advance of a raid the following day by German police.

iTunes Store nicht mehr erreichbar

Seit etwa zwei Minuten ist der iTunes Store nicht mehr erreichbar. Zwar kann man die Store-Startseite öffnen, doch erhält man eine Fehlermeldung, wenn man andere Rubriken wie App Store oder TV Sendungen ansteuert.Auch die XML-Datei (XML: Programmiersprache, in der der Store geschrieben ist) ändert sich etwa sekündlich.Dies lässt darauf spekulieren, dass der iTunes Store auf eine Neuerung vorbereitet wird, wie zum Beispiel die 99 Cent TV Sendungen, von denen in letzter Zeit die Rede ist; Hierbei wäre jedoch fraglich, wieso auch der AppStore nicht erreichbar ist.Wir halten Euch auf dem Laufenden!

CeBIT mit Besucherwachstum und -rückgang

Die Zahl der Aussteller auf der diesjährigen CeBIT war mit 4.157 Unternehmen aus 68 Ländern so niedrig wie seit 20 Jahren nicht mehr. Ebenso düster sehen die Besucherzahlen aus, auch wenn die Deutsche Messe versucht, die Zahlen schönzufärben, indem der dieses Jahr weggefallene Sonntag auch im letzten Jahr nicht gezählt wird.

Panasonic's touchscreen G2, light G10 cameras official

Panasonic followed up on its self-leak today by officially rolling out two new Micro Four Thirds cameras. Of the pair, the Lumix G2 is the first swappable-lens camera to use a swiveling touchscreen; photographers can now not only preview shots off-angle with the 3-inch LCD but control the camera at the same time, including tap-to-focus AF. It simultaneously represents the first in-between video-capable Lumix G as it can record at 720p30 in H.264, which trails the GH1's 1080p24 but saves space.

We're going to assume that Mary Lou's bravado-filled "It's only slightly more difficult than changing a lightbulb" is in reference to working with OLPC. In fact, in Mary Lou Jepsen's most recent Pixel Qi blog post she makes quick reference of the fact that there will be DIY kits for replacing your own laptop screen (most likely a 10-inch module) with the sunlight-friendly, switchable magic of Pixel Qi, but she spends the rest of the post talking about how in Nigeria some schoolgirls started up a laptop hospital where they'd repair their XOs by swapping out parts or reseating cables. We doubt most of our laptops will be so resilient when it comes to ripping off the bezel and swapping in the Pixel Qi part, but we're dying to void our warranty and find out.

We just found a new friend. Kojiro, a humanoid being built by the University of Tokyo's JSK Robotics Laboratory, has a detailed musculoskeletal system built to mimic the human body. It works on a system of artificial bones, muscles and tendons to create a robot that is theoretically more light and agile than your regular bot, and which moves in a more organic fashion to our untrained eyes. Samsung Go N315 grabs a Pinetrail processor

Samsung hasn't yet abased itself to competing head-on with the lowest price netbooks out there, but its Samsung Go can at least vaguely keep up with the times spec-wise, notching up from the N310 to the N315 model name in the process. The $429 rubber-clad netbook has been bumped to an Atom N450 processor, along with Windows 7 Starter, 1GB of RAM and Intel GMA 1350 graphics.
