ASUS Eee PC T101MT headed to US in April for $499
Well beginning of April, you sure do like tablets for $499, don't ya? While the Eee PC T101MT has been available to suave Europeans since February, ASUS has let out word that the 10-inch, multitouch tablet will start shipping in the US sometime in April for $499. Not a bad deal considering the Pine Trail-powered netvertible has been been priced around 499 Euros overseas -- though we're unsure at this point of the final specs of the American T101MT and what version of Windows 7 it will boot. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for it at the usual etailers, but

PVI shows off color and video e-paper in China -- coming to a Kindle near you?
Prime View International -- the company responsible for pumping e-ink screens into Amazon's Kindles -- has recently shown off some color and video screens at a trade show in Shenzhen, China. The company has been showing off the displays in 6 and 9.7-inch varieties, one of which could fit perfectly into the 6-inch Kindle, of course. While there's been no real indication that Amazon is interested in transitioning to color or video-boasting readers, but it's not completely inconceivable considering the recent competition it's facing. Best Buy to offer iPads on launch day, hold April 11th promo?
It's no secret that Best Buy is on a short list of select Apple partners who'll be able to offer the iPad to its customers, but new -- albeit unconfirmed -- evidence suggests that the big box retailer may stock the device alongside Apple stores on April 3rd before launching a broader promotion a week later.

Apple runs out of launch day iPads
Apple on Saturday quietly revealed through the Apple Store that it has run out of launch day iPads. New online pre-orders for all Wi-Fi iPads now won't ship until April 12th, or more than a week after the initial deliveries arrive. The delay comes two weeks after pre-orders began and an estimated 240,000 iPads were purchased sight unseen.

Hold onto your hats, it seems Novatel, maker of some of the finest 3G / WiFi devices has decided to stretch its legs from connectivity into the realm of data storage. Not only is the cloud-based storage accessible through their software for Windows or Apple, but they're thoughfully built a nice mobile site so your cellphone can get in on the fun. Other notables include the ability to mail files to your file server, easy online collaboration for a team, and you can even send folks links to files who don't have access to your server and track when and if they download it. Apple korrigiert Lieferprognose für das iPad
Seit zwei Wochen ist es in den USA möglich, Vorbestellungen für das iPad aufzugeben. Aktuellen Einschätzungen auf Grundlage erfasster Bestellnummern zufolge wurden bereits ungefähr 250.000 iPads auf diesem Wege reserviert. Apple gab auf den Bestellseiten an, das iPad ab dem 3. Leaked image says iPad lands at Best Buy... on launch day
We'd heard buzzing for some time now around the internet that Apple planned to sell its iPad in more than just it's own stores, and usually the name Best Buy was mentioned in the same breath but now we've got some photographic evidence. The above shot comes from what looks to be an internal memo from the big box retailer, not only stating that the stores will be getting the iPad, but that they'll be getting the iPad on launch day. iPad's App Store leaked, explicit area returns
The iPad-optimized version of the App Store has been leaked almost in its entirety late Friday and has revealed a distinctly different approach than either in the iPhone or iTunes versions. Besides taking advantage of the larger areas with a Cover Flow display at the top, the site will distinguish between iPad-only and universal apps with a toggle between the two, including in searches. Most iPad apps are now known by AppAdvice to be overall more expensive than their smaller iPhone counterparts.

Apple's mobile ad platform due April 7?
Apple's mobile ad platform could be ready just days after the iPad reaches shops, a leak late Friday might have confirmed. The technology firm would unveil the platform, possibly named "iAd," to major advertising executives on April 7th. Company head Steve Jobs has already celebrated the plans and is now calling them "revolutionary," according to the MediaPost sources involved.

Wie es aussieht scheint Apple wirklich alles zu Gold zu machen.
So berichtet TUAW (The Unoffical Apple Weblog), das der Liefertermin für heute vorbestellte iPads vom 3.4., dem offiziellen USA Releasetermin, auf den 12.4. gesprungen ist. Womit zu vermutet werden kann, das die Startproduktion wohl ausverkauft ist. Dies gilt zumindest für die WiFi-Variante.

NVIDIA bringt GeForce GTX 480 und GTX 470 (mit Videos)

Zunächst die Fakten: 480 CUDA-Shader Kerne, 700 MHz Grafik und 1,401 MHz Prozessorgeschwindigkeit plus 1,5 GB GDDR5 Speicher, der mit 1848 MHz läuft. Das sind die Specs, auf denen NVIDIAs Fermi aka GeForce GTX 480 basiert und die den Preis von 499 Dollar (bei uns rund 480 Euro) und den Stromverbrauch von 250 Watt (Heise Online hat sogar über 300 Watt gemessen) rechtfertigen sollen. Snowtape-App erhält keine Zulassung

Gerücht: iPhone-Garantie jetzt weltweit

Musikmesse 2010: Embedded System Feeltune Rhizome (mit Video)

Die kleine französische Firma Feeltune aus Nimes hat sich der nicht gerade einfachen Aufgabe verschrieben, eine Live-Groovebox als Embedded System zu bauen, was sie aber in der Rekordzeit von knapp einem Jahr geschafft hat. Das jetzt auf der Frankfurter Musikmesse vorgestellte Rhizome beruht auf einem 3,06 GHz Intel Core2Duo mit 2GB RAM, 250 GB Festplatte und jeder Menge Bedienelemente: 16 hintergrundbeleuchtete Pads, 16 Buttons, 32 Push Encoder und 30 weitere Buttons, alle gedacht zur Echtzeitsteuerung von VST-Plugins. Die vier Displays sind ausnahmsweise mal keine Touchscreens, was bei so vielen Knöpfen, Pads und Tasten ja auch Overkill wäre. Video nach dem Break.

Apple kauft Fujitsu die iPad-Trademark ab

Was auch immer hinter geschlossenen Türen abgelaufen sein mag - Fujitsu hat Apple den Markennamen "iPad" überlassen. Wie es scheint, ohne groß Radau zu schlagen. Fujitsu hatte die Marke bereits 2003 für ein Windows CE-Gerät schützen lassen. Nur seltsam, dass Apple solche Fragen nicht vor der ersten Präsentation eines Gerätes klärt. Offiziell: Xbox 360 unterstützt bald USB-Speicher
Was vor einer Woche noch ein Gerücht war, wurde nun bestätigt: Die Xbox 360 soll über ein Firmware-Upgrade fit für USB-Massenspeicher wie USB-Sticks gemacht werden. Alright, kiddies, gather 'round, because it's time for everyone's favorite class: Palm Model Codes 101. As you might recall from Sunnyvale's previous exploits in the FCC's system, P101 devices are Pres, while P121s are Pixis. Symantec: Chinesen versenden die meiste Malware
Die meisten Versender von E-Mails mit Malware im Anhang kommen aus China. Das besagt eine Studie von Symantec Messagelabs. 28,2 Prozent der Versender hatten zuletzt eine IP-Adresse, die sich nach China zurückverfolgen lässt. Ein erster Blick in den App Store fürs iPad
Die US-Webseite App Advice präsentiert uns erste Screenshots aus der iPad-Abteilung des App Store, die offiziell zeitgleich mit dem US-Verkaufsstart des iPad nächsten Samstag online gehen soll.
Augenscheinlichste Änderung sind die prominent platzierten Screenshots der einzelnen Anwendungen, durch die man mittels Cover Flow blättern kann. Ansonsten hält sich der iPad Store weitgehend an die uns wohl bekannten Strukturen im App Store. Um Verwirrung bei den Anwendern zu vermeiden, unterscheidet Apple bei den angebotenen Apps fortan zwischen "Apps" (für alle Endgeräte) und "iPad Apps".
Eine Erwähnung wert ist die Tatsache, dass viele der HD-Apps fürs iPad ein ganzes Stück teurer sind als ihre Pendants für iPod touch und iPhone. Auf den Screenshots von App Advice finden sich beispielsweise Labyrinth 2 HD für $7,99 anstelle von $4,99, Real Racing HD kostet gar $9,99 statt $4,9

Nokia N900 Maemo / MeeGo dual boot 'will come at some point,' but not next firmware
Quim Gil of Nokia's Maemo team has dropped some knowledge on the folks chatting up the upcoming MeeGo release in the official Maemo forums, and it sounds like there are at least a couple critical points to be aware of for N900 owners and would-be ROM flashers when the first developer preview drops next week. To quote Gil, "nothing beautiful, stable or fully featured" will be a part of that initial release -- and to be more blunt about it, "99% of you don't want to install that release in your N900." NVIDIA says GeForce GTX 480 "fastest GPU in the world"
NVIDIA at PAX East tonight finally released the first video chipsets based on its Fermi architecture. The top-end GeForce GTX 480 leads the group and is billed as the "fastest GPU in the world:" it has 480 visual processing cores, 16 geometry units and four raster units that combined should beat the ATI Radeon HD 5800 series in real-world tests. It also has major optimizations to multi-card SLI that produce a 90 percent speed boost with a second card, making the case for multiple GeForce 400 series cards in high-end systems.

A number of publishers have reacted to reports of Steve Jobs' Flash-bashing comments.
