Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs flick gets an April release date

The new film that starts Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs (which is still unfortunately titled "jOBS", apparently), has gotten an April release date, according to the Wall Street Journal. The film, directed by Joshua Michael Stern, will premiere at the very end of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah later on this month, but will eventually open for a wider release sometime in April. This is the first of two Steve Jobs movies we're scheduled to see come together in 2013, with the other one currently being written by none other than Aaron Sorkin. Tha

Griffin MOTO TC Monster truck offers Bluetooth control, so-so software

When Steve assigned me the Griffin MOTO TC Monster truck (US$49.99) to review, I basically assumed this was going to be the best review assignment ever. Sadly, it was not. This Bluetooth-managed truck offers solid hardware features, but its software is just not up to the task. The hardware consists of a standard RC truck, that's well built as these things go -- we buy a lot of RC trucks and helicopters in our household. The MOTO TC Monster truck was reasonably put together and stood up to use by excitable boys both indoors and out, with the most fun running it across roads, driveways, and sidewalks. It pulls power off of a rechargable battery that's quite easy to install and remove,

G-Form takes iPhone case drop testing to a new height: over 100,000 feet

Gericht entscheidet gegen Apple: "Amazon Appstore" keine irreführende Werbung

A possible explanation for the iOS New Year's Do Not Disturb bug

Digging into the problem I did some manual testing by winding my iPhone's clock forward several years and setting different times to turn DND on and off again. They saw more than 2 million downloads of their apps in just one day, and a huge increase in daily active users as well: More than 4.5 times what they usually see on a standard Tuesday. That means people everywhere were unwrapping new iOS devices, and then using them to both download apps and check out their new downloads, which means big bonuses for devs with popular apps in the store. Report: 35% of paid apps dropped prices in 2012

Apple Sliced is a site that keeps watch on App Store prices, and they've just released a year-end report on how much app prices fluctuated over the whole of 2012. Overall, says Apple Sliced, 35% of paid apps on the store ended up dropping their prices at some point last year, which is a sizable number for sure. A slightly smaller percentage of apps (around 32%) were cheaper at some point in 2012 than they are now, which means they dropped and then raised them. While these numbers represent a large proportion of apps on the store, they also aren't that surprising -- plenty of paid app developers do price tweaking and put on sales from time to time, usually just to raise interest (and thus downloads) in their apps.
