Stores run out of iPad 2 in Canada, UK
Apple has seen a repeat of its past performance on Saturday as it once again sold out at retail for the international launch. Checks by Electronista with several Canadian Apple stores showed that they had run out of supply by Saturday afternoon. Almost all third-party retailers, including Best Buy and Future Shop, had also run out of supply.

Harry Winston's Opus Eleven watch: mechanical masterpiece / bank breaker (video)
It's been a while since we gave Harry Winston's Opus watch any play, but some timepieces are just too lavish to pass up. In what has become an annual tradition now, the WWF's Earth Hour is presently sweeping across the globe, getting people to switch off non-essential lights and appliances for a sixty-minute kindness to Ma Earth and her finite energy resources. All you'll need to do to be part of it is power down the old World of Warcraft questing station, turn the TV off, and maybe take a walk outside so your lights don't have to be on, starting at 8.30PM tonight. Zwischenentscheidung beim Patentstreit zwischen Nokia und Apple
Schon seit einiger Zeit liegen sich Apple und Nokia bezüglich verschiedener Rechtsstreitigkeit in den Haaren. In einer der vielen Patentklagen gab es nun eine Entscheidung, die man durchaus als “Zwischensieg für Apple” bezeichnen könnte. MIC Gadget rolls out CompactFlash adapter for iPads
Hybrid tech site and store MIC Gadget this week quietly unwrapped an adapter to give iPad and iPad 2 owners much-requested card format support. The CF Card Reader for iPad lets photographers with higher-end DSLRs and some older compact cameras load photos and videos directly to either of iPad. Format support on Apple's tablet is currently the limiting factor and currently excludes RAW photos as well as some video formats, primarily those that exceed Apple's official 720p, 30FPS video limit.

HSN details Nook Color update for 'mid-April': Android 2.2, Flash, apps and push email
Spent some quality time watching the Home Shopping Network this morning to hear just how the Nook Color will be improved? Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac 1.1 adds Apple Lossless
Microsoft gave Mac users more parity with their Windows peers late Friday with the 1.1 update to Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac (free, App Store). The new version now lets Apple Lossless (ALAC) tracks sync to Windows Phone 7 or, likely, Zune HD devices. Samsung caught exaggerating Galaxy Tab thinness, faking fans
Samsung suffered minor embarrassment at the end of CTIA this week after it was caught distorting claims surrounding the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1. A side-by-side look on Thursday showed the that the updated Galaxy Tab 10.1, which was supposedly slimmed down to 8.6mm just to beat the iPad 2, now appears to still be slightly thicker. A spokesman, after seeing the defeat, didn't explicitly deny to InformationWeek that Samsung had exaggerated the claims but said the official specifications pointed to it being 0.02mm thinner than Apple's despite evidence to the contrary.

If you know anything about the history of spaceflight, you're probably already familiar with the historic journey of USSR cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who flew around the Earth in 1961, making him the first person to ever travel beyond our planet's atmosphere. While audio recordings of Gagarin's observations exist, there are no video recordings except for those recently shot at the ISS following a similar plot of his trip, directed by Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli, who currently lives on the space station. ScanDrop comes to Mac: makes scanning to cloud services simple
I've been a fan of a paperless workflow for a couple of years now, and I rely heavily on Evernote for organizing everything scannable that crosses my desk. One of the tools I've found invaluable for speeding up the scan and filing process is ScanDrop, as it allows me to scan a document and do basic image editing. I can also send a PDF to Evernote with a name, tags, and the appropriate Notebook setup without having to juggle files between multiple applications.
Unfortunately, this has also kept my scanning leashed to Windows, since ScanDrop didn't exist for Mac OS X. I was delighted to find out that OfficeDrop has debuted a Mac OS X version on the Mac App Store at the bargain launch price of

Erst gestern wurde ein neuer Apple Werbspot der Kampagne "If you don't have an iPhone" mit Schwerpunkt auf dem GameCenter veröffentlicht, schon ist vor wenigen Stunden ein neuer TV-Spot erschienen. Diesmal dreht sich alles um das Retina-Display, das mit seinen 336 ppi viermal so viele Pixel hat wie sein Vorgängermodell.Vor gut einer Woche startete Apple die neue Werbekampagne "If you don't have an iPhone." Tech Crunch reports that Apple is set to deploy a Gold Master release of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion in the near future. It's been just over a month since Apple released the Lion Developer Preview. A Gold Master is typically the final version of a software product that is then sent on to be mass produced on CD or DVDs (or delivered digitally). New MacBook Pros have 2100A USB2 ports for charging
Unannounced by Apple but verified by its own System Profiler, the new 2011 MacBook Pros feature a combined 2100mA of current available for peripherals charging through the USB2 ports -- seemingly made possible specifically for charging the iPad at the same rate as a wall charger would provide. AT&T says Atrix 4G, Inspire 4G will have HSUPA enabled in April
We've already seen some hints that something was coming soon courtesy of the FCC, and now AT&T has confirmed to CNET that both the HTC Inspire 4G and Motorola Atrix 4G will have their HSUPA capabilities enabled sometime in April via a software update. Twitter update adds photo, video capture to iPad 2
The official Twitter app for iPad has been updated to version 3.3.2, and it now allows you to take and share photos and videos directly from your iPad 2. This functionality was already in there for the iPhone, of course, but now that the iPad is outfitted with a camera, Twitter has made it easy to take and share video directly from Apple's magical and revolutionary device.
The update has a few bug fixes, including a fix that helps location sharing work a little better. What the new version doesn't do is get rid of the trending topics quickbar, a feature that still has some users up in arms after it was added into the app a little while ago. Newer models of the iOS device line have offered excellent-quality video out for some time using Apple's VGA connector cable. Now, Apple's 30-pin to HDMI adapter pushes quality even further. Amazon may have cloud media locker next week
Insiders said Friday night that Amazon may pip Apple and Google to unveiling a cloud media locker in the very near future. The online retailer has supposedly been talking to music labels and movie studios about storing books, music, and videos on servers so users could get to them from anywhere. It might unveil its plans as soon as next week, before all the deals have even been finalized, CNET understood.

ITC says Apple didn't violate five Nokia patents
Apple won a significant victory against Nokia on Friday after an International Trade Commission judge said in an initial ruling that Apple didn't infringe on any of the five patents leveled against it in Nokia's December 2009 patent dispute. The claims insisted that the iPhone, iPod and Macs at the time all copied Nokia's wireless technology. Judge James Gildea's decision wasn't final and will have to be approved by the rest of the ITC on August 1 to be upheld.
