Intel crams 48 cores onto stamp-sized processor, wants to do what Cell did
Just when we thought Intel's yet-to-release six-core Core i9 would be the future, the silicon giant drops the bomb yet again with more multi-core madness -- the experimental 48-core Single-chip Cloud Computer (SCC), a.k.a. Rock Creek. While it looks like Intel still has a long way from their 80-core target in 2011, this bad boy packs an impressive 1.3 billion transistors on a 45nm fabrication, but sucks up just 125 watts which is a far cry from Core i9's 130 watts. EA CEO says digital gaming will overtake console market next year
Need more evidence that physical media is inching towards the door? Enter this Reuters conversation with Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello. While the company -- the largest publisher of "interactive entertainment" (AKA video games) -- is hurting on sales during the awesome global recession currently underway, he thinks the future is digital. All digital. Riccitiello had this to say on the matter:
"When people think of games, they traditionally think, in the U.S., of what sells on the Xbox, the PlayStation, and the Wii, and they forget about all these online services that are out there if you add all that stuff up, it's almost half the industry now. It's about 40 to 45 percent. Next year it's likely to be the larger share of the total industry and it'll be bigger than the console games all put together."

Creative shows ZiiSound speaker range for iPods, more
At the Zii Summit in Singapore on Tuesday, Creative showed off a new range of iPod speaker docks branded as ZiiSound. Despite the name, the speakers will not have Creative's Zii stemcell processor integrated into them. The ZiiSound D5 iPod dock sports a wireless iPod connector and sends the audio to the actual speakers using Bluetooth.

Logitech working on UMD drive add-on for the PSP Go?
There may have been plenty of folks pushing Sony to ditch UMD once and for all with the PSP Go, but there's at least as many sorry to see it left behind, as evidenced by the continued strong sales of the venerable PSP-3000. While nothing's official just yet, it looks like Logitech just might now be set to bridge the divide the two handhelds with a UMD drive add-on of some sort for the PSP Go. That word comes form an unnamed source speaking to CVG, who reportedly said that the only problem with the drive is that "it'll make the PSP a little bulky," but offered no other details. Of course, there's also the small problem that the add-on would only add more to the cost of the PSP Go along with the bulk, thereby making the PSP-3000

Chronos releases NoteLife for iPhone
Chronos has released a new note creation and management app for the iPhone and iPod touch, NoteLife. The program stores everything from images and audio to PDF files, and provides three different navigation modes: List, Flow and Page. Users can e-mail notes to friends, create a series of multimedia notes using built-in audio and video recorders, and secure material with 256-bit AES encryption. Comcast delivers data usage meter in Portland, Oregon
The lucky residents of Portland, Oregon are the first to test out Comcast's just deployed and long-expected data usage meter for its customers. The interface is self-explanatory, but customers who have long been trying to guesstimate how close they are to their 250GB limit (and the nasty overage charges) should be jumping for joy right about now. Comcast says the data is refreshed about every three hours, and that the median usage of its customers is somewhere around 2 - 4GB per month. No word on further rollout of the usage meter -- but we'll keep our eyes peeled for you.

Wii parts production said to be shrinking, still plenty of Wiis being sold
Well, we've already seen demand for the Wii finally begin to slow and Nintendo's profits shrink as a result, and it looks like the inevitable trickle down effect is now also starting to take place. According to Nikkei, parts makers Mitsumi and Hosiden are expected to be particularly hard hit, with each forecasting a more than fifty percent drop in profits for the fiscal year ending next March. Sprint handed customer GPS data to law enforcement over 8 million times last year
Privacy advocates and career criminals alike are in a lather over reports that between September 2008 and October 2009, Sprint Nextel ponied up customer location data to various law enforcement agencies more than 8 million times. Speaking at ISS World 2009 (a conference for law enforcement and telecom industry-types responsible for "lawful interception, electronic investigations and network Intelligence gathering"), Sprint Nextel's very own Paul Taylor, Manager of Electronic Surveillance, lamented on the sheer volume of requests the company's received in the past year for precise GPS data for Sprint customers. Apple tablet to be surprisingly low-cost?
Apple's long rumored tablet could have a surprisingly low price, based on an unusual rumor from the latest episode of Revision3 show Diggnation (viewable below). Book publishers say Apple tablet will 'come out top' in eBook wars
Evidence that the book trade is taking renewed interest in eBook publishing has emerged, with professionals from within the sector agreeing Apple to be the most likely company to lead the new publishing charge.

Mac sales growing, PC market slowing - Apple benefits from the 'iPhone effect' - analysis
iPhone sales, like the iPod before them, are driving renewed interest in the Mac, attracting new consumers and stimulating Apple’s sales, says Needham analyst, Charles Wolf.
In an extensive report carried by Fortune this morning, Wolf’s analysis is given account of. Among other tidbits, it reveals the iPhone halo to be stronger than that of the iPod. Wolf also applauds Apple’s management for sticking to its premium pricing arrangements despite common low price wisdom.
Apple is now taking one out of every ten dollars spent on a home computer worldwide, Wolf writes, and in the US it is grabbing over one dollar in every five spent on a home computer.

Apple iPhone streaming is 'patent infringement', Israeli firm claims
Apple has been accused of abusing another's patent within the live streaming technology used by the iPhone and iPod touch.
Israel-based firm Emblaze this morning confirmed it has hit Apple with a patent infringement lawsuit accusing the Californian company of the same.
In a note to media the smaller firm reveals: “Emblaze Ltd. has recently notified Apple Inc.that the HTTP Live Streaming Application announced by Apple and intended for use in Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices, infringes Emblaze's U.S. patent for media streaming technology.”
Emblaze has been developing media streaming technology for over a decade and first unveiled its technology to the public in a live video streaming broadcast from the White House during Easter, 1998.

Apple set to release Point of Sale(PoS) iPod add-on as a commercial product?
We reported on Twtter founder Jack Dorsey who is building an iPhone PoS system earlier today. It turns out he might have some competition from Apple itself.
iFoApple Store reports that Apple may release the POS-iPod system it developed for its Apple Stores as a product aimed at retailers.

Lawsuits: AT&T- Verizon suits settled, Psystar stops selling OSX on its systems
It looks like AT&T thought better of fighting Verizon in court over ads that AT&T itself admitted weren't incorrect. Verizon is also dropping the countersuit according to AllThingsD.
In other fun lawsuit news, Psystar has stopped selling OSX machines, currently listing them as sold out in response to yesterday's news that they had settled their California case with Apple. They are still selling their Rebel EFI (for $0.00 +$49.99 for the authentication key) however, signalling the shift in their business model.

AT&T goes up against free Google Voicemail with $9.99/month option
AT&T is enabling a $10/month option that you can tack onto your iPhone or other AT&T device which will transcode your voicemails using speech recognition and send them to your phone via email or SMS. Confused school district fires sysadmin for running SETI: 'As an educational institution we do not support the search for E.T.'
We've dealt with a number of confused and outright foolish school administrators in our time, but it seems like Arizona's Higley Unified School District might be run by the most bonkers of the bunch: they've fired IT director Brad Niesluchowski for running SETI@Home on some 5,000 of the district's machines. Intel demos 48-core "cloud" processor
Intel today gave a look at its long-term future by showing the Single-chip Cloud Computer (SCC). Actually a 48-core processor, the chip is an offspring of a very early 100-core project and shares its unique "network" approach that keeps each one of the full x86 cores communicating with each other at full speed, earning its cloud computing-inspired name. The new model, however, is extremely efficient: it uses unspecified new energy management to consume no more than 125W at peak load and as little as 25W, even when all 48 cores are active.

Large Hadron Collider grinds to a halt... again
In an increasingly unsurprising turn of events, the Large Hadron Collider suffered a major power failure this morning, knocking the machine and its website out of service. The failure occurred in an 18,000-volt power line in Meyrin, Geneva where the LHC is housed beneath the ground, causing pretty much everything to shut down. The LHC's magnets maintained a temperature of 1.9 degrees above absolute zero (having to re-cool them would have been a pretty sizeable setback), however, and no long-term damage seems to have occurred. JBL makes Creature III speakers official
After a brief tease earlier this fall, Harman's JBL label today released its Creature III speakers. AT&T goes up against free Google Voicemail with $9.99/month option
AT&T is enabling a $10/month option that you can tack onto your iPhone or other AT&T device which will transcode your voicemails using speech recognition and send them to your phone via email or SMS. Sure, Google Voice has been doing this for awhile and doing it free, but AT&T's version doesn't force you to give your voicemeil over to Google who will probably index it and slip in ads at some point in the future.

Was man dazu braucht: einen Laser aus einem CD-Player, eine Menge Gaffer-Tape, Okay, das Resultat kann man nicht perfekt nennen, aber Bhautik scheint zufrieden zu sein mit den leicht unscharfen, Holga-artigen Ergebnissen. Mirror's Edge to come to iPhone, iPod touch in January
EA is preparing an iPhone version of Mirror's Edge, the publisher has announced. Developed by DICE, the game was originally released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in November of last year, with a Windows version following in January. The title centers around Faith Connors, an illegal courier who becomes embroiled in Orwellian city politics. Faith travels by rooftop, using parkour and martial arts to navigate obstacles.

Das ist mal eine echt seltsame Idee: laut einer Quelle von CVG soll Logitech derzeit an einem externen UMD-Laufwerk für die PSP Go arbeiten. Logitech UK wusste schonmal nichts darüber, wollte aber nicht ausschliessen, dass vielleicht die US-Niederlassung daran arbeitet. Lawsuits: AT&T- Verizon suits settled, Psystar stops selling OSX on its systems
It looks like AT&T thought better of fighting Verizon in court over ads that AT&T itself admitted weren't incorrect. Verizon is also dropping the countersuit according to AllThingsD.
In other fun lawsuit news, Psystar has stopped selling OSX machines, currently listing them as sold out in response to yesterday's news that they had settled their California case with Apple. They are still selling their Rebel EFI (for $0.00 +$49.99 for the authentication key) however, signalling the shift in their business model.

From the moment that we heard of the the new 40GB Kingston SSD, we couldn't help but get our hopes up. Who knows if (or more likely, when) SSD drives will ever completely replace spinning platters with all the digital media people collect today, so rather than stretching your budget and compressing your media in order to stuff everything onto a 256GB solid state drive, we dug the idea of snagging a small (and affordable) SSD for boot / application operations and utilizing a spacious HDD for archival. Not to mention -- regardless of how fast a disk is -- two are almost always better than one. Apple Cyber Monday web traffic jumps 71 percent
Traffic at Apple's online store rose 71 percent on Cyber Monday 2009 versus the same day in 2008, according to data collected by Experian Hitwise. Although Apple remains outside of the top 20 websites, the growth is nevertheless thought to be significant, as traffic amongst the top 500 sites declined 9 percent overall. The biggest gain within the top 20 was Staples, which jumped 61 percent.

AT&T, Verizon have countering lawsuits dismissed
AT&T and Verizon today agreed to mutually end lawsuits attacking each other's networking claims. US District Courts in Atlanta and the Southern District of New York have dismissed both AT&T's suit hoping to block Verizon's "there's a map for that" ads as well as an earlier Verizon complaint that would have shut down AT&T's criticisms of its "most reliable" claims. Both cases end without prejudice and allow either company to sue again.

ViewSonic preps color-accurate, IPS-based LCDs
Best known in recent years for its budget displays, ViewSonic on Wednesday took a turn to the high-end with two displays using much more color rich IPS (in-plane switching) panels. The 23-inch VP2365wb and the 26-inch VP2655wb both have much wider color palettes that culminate in the larger display showing 118 percent of the NTSC color range, making it particularly ideal for video editing. Both get a wider 178-degree viewing angle from any orientation and are more more likely to show an accurate picture when seen off-center as a result.

Verizon iPhone may be delayed, says analyst
A deal between Apple and Verizon may take longer to materialize than normally assumed, says Kaufman analyst Shaw Wu. AT&T's exclusive hold on the American iPhone is expected to end in summer 2010, and Wu notes that adding Verizon to the list of carriers will open up a market of 89 million potential US customers, greater than AT&T's current 82 million. Samsung Omnia II unboxing and hands-on
It's here at last, and we're frankly thrilled to be holding Samsung's very first TouchWiz 2.0 device, the Verizon Wireless-bound Samsung Omnia II. The 2.0 software brings with it a Widget Store, and as a general UI manages to skin over a majority of Windows Mobile 6.5, which is puttering along underneath. The handset is a tad on the bulky side, but makes up for it with a wonderful 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA screen and a very nice 5 megapixel camera. We'll have a review for you before long, but for now you can check out a quick video rundown (including some playtime with the Samsung-exclusive "Swype" keyboard) after the break. RedEye turns iPhone into remote control; hands-on
ThinkFlood today formally unveiled RedEye, a unique adapter that turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a remote for a home theater. It bridges Wi-Fi to infrared and uses a custom iPhone app (free, App Store) to steer the device using premade infrared codes. Much like a Logitech Harmony remote, the app not only has an onscreen remote interface but can be programmed to automatically perform multiple tasks for a particular activity, such as turning on the TV, switching inputs and ejecting the tray on a Blu-ray player to load a new movie.

Finnen bauen weltweit energieeffizientestes Rechenzentrum
Im Januar wollen in Helsinki der lokale Energieversorger Helsingin Energia und der IT-Dienstleister Academica haben das energieeffizienteste Rechenzentrum der Welt in Betrieb nehmen. Es ist in einem ehemaligen Luftschutzbunker unter der Uspenski-Kathedrale im zentral gelegenen Stadtteil Katajanokka untergebracht und soll zunächst rund zwei Megawatt an das lokale Fernwärmesystem liefern. Das entspricht der Energie, die rund 500 Einfamilienhäuser für Heizung und Warmwasserbereitung benötigen. Die geplante Gesamtkapazität im Endausbau beträgt fünf Megawatt.

Psystar halts Mac clone sales, resists defeat
Psystar has put a halt to sales of Mac clones, the company's website indicates. All Open Computers are now listed as "out of stock;" the only product still available is the Rebel EFI installation utility, which is quoted as free, but only on a trial basis. Nokia sees new Symbian, flat market share in 2010
Nokia at its Capital Markets Day gathering provided a pessimistic outlook for its own fortunes next year in spite of new developments. Company chief Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo says he expects Nokia to take the Symbian interface "to a new level" and improve the user experience. Richtig erfolgreich ist ein Gadget wohl nur dann, wenn es einen eigenen Zubehörschwarm hat. So gesehen sollte Amazons Kindle eigentlich noch das eine oder andere Accessoir bekommen, allerdings nicht auf Biegen und Brechen. Angespielt: Frenzic – Tortendiagramme als Suchtspiel (Logik) (Puzzle)
Frenzic begleitet mich schon seit fast einem Jahr auf meinem iPhone. Grund genug, es hier kurz zu erwähnen. Frenzic ist ein Puzzle-Spiel, bei welchem Tortendiagramme mit farbigen Dreiecken aufgefüllt werden. Das Spiel startet mit fünf leeren, kreisförmig angeordneten, Tortendiagrammen. In der Mitte wird ein dreieckiges, farbiges Element angezeigt, welches per Tipp auf ein leeres Tortendiagramm dort platziert wird. Die immer schneller eingeblendeten Elemente müssen so auf die noch freien Plätze verteilt werden, dass möglichst jeder Kreis mit einer Farbe gefüllt wird. Vollständig gefüllt Tortendiagramme leeren sich, so dass dort wieder neue Elemente platziert werden können und verteilen Boni wie Zeitverlangsamer oder eine Bombe, die alle Tortendiagramme leert.

Gerade erst waren ein paar Screenshots von Android 2.1 unterwegs, jetzt taucht im XDA-Developers Forum (wo überhaupt eine Menge los ist) ein ROM mit Android 2.1 aka Eclair inklusive HTC Sense auf, das wohl eine Alphaversion ist und daher noch einigermassen wacklig auf den Beinen und unter anderem noch ohne Google-Synchronisierung und WiFi kommt. Evernote: Virtuelle, mobile Gedächtnisstütze
Evernote ist Entwickler der gleichnamigen Multiplattform-Anwendung zur Notizenerfassung und -verwaltung. Seit kurzem sind mehrere Produktversionen auch in Deutsch verfügbar, darunter der Webdienst sowie die Download-Versionen von Evernote für Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone sowie andere Mobilgeräte. Evernote-Nutzer können mit dem kostenlosen Webdienst Notizen erstellen, Fotos importieren, Webseiten speichern und Audiomemos aufzeichnen - also sämtlich Features, welche das aktuelle iPhone bereits in der Grundlausstattung mitliefert. Allerdings werden die in Evernote erfassten Inhalte automatisch an einen Webserver gesendet, der sie u.a. für eine Notizsuche aufbereitet. Anschließend werden die Notizen und Inhalte mit den vom Anwender genutzten Evernote-Versionen synchronisiert. Believe it or not, we first heard of SDXC nearly a year ago. Aside from a highly guarded chip spotted at CeBIT, though, we've yet to see any of those cards in the flesh. Manufacturers redirecting R&D on declining GPS device orders?
If you enjoy the decimation of an industry as much as Google does then you're going to love the latest rumor sourced from DigiTimes' manufacturing moles. According to the Taiwanese rumor rag, personal navigation device R&D teams at the manufacturing powerhouses of Foxconn (aka, Hon Hai) and Wistron have been shifted to other devices in the face of "declining PND orders." Seems logical as GPS-equipped smartphones snuff out their dedicated forebears with the same converged precision that turned wrist watches into items of fashion. Gerücht: iTunes Extras und LPs mit iDVD erstellen?
Wie kürzlich berichtet will Apple Anfang 2010 den Prozess der Erstellung und Veröffentlichung der neuen iTunes-Formate Extras und LPs optimieren und vereinfachen. iTunes Extras darf man sich als Download-Filme mit DVD-ähnlichen Menüs und Bonusfeatures vorstellen, die iTunes LP als erweitertes Audioformat, das Bonuselemente wie Fotos, Videos oder Songtexte mitbringt. Beide Formate lassen sich derzeit ausschließlich über iTunes oder auf einem Apple TV wiedergeben.
Beim Boy Genius Report ist jetzt ein Tipp dahingehend eingetroffen, dass Apple in die für Anfang 2010 erwartete nächste iDVD-Version eine Option zur Erstellung dieser Formate einbaut.

WebOS 1.3.2 out for Palm Pixi while Pre looks on with jealousy
Looks like Palm's first Pixi update has an air of exclusivity to it. WebOS 1.3.2 is being released to the somewhat washed, non-slider masses, while Pre owners are so far left toying with 1.3.1. Not a huge loss, it seems, as no one is yet certain what this update does. Still, if you got a Pixi, look for the over-the-air warning lights to go on.

That projected Q1 2010 availability window for AT&T's first dual-mode satphone (and first satphone, period, for that matter) is looking pretty dang obtainable now that Elektrobit -- the device's manufacturer -- has secured FCC approval. Photoshop.com iPhone App now available worldwide
Adobe has announced the international introduction of the iPhone version of its Photoshop.com online image editing service.
The app was originally introduced in the US only in October, but is now available worldwide in any country that has an app store.
“After spending three weeks as the "Top Free" app in the iTunes Store following its release in the US & Canada, we are glad to be able to offer Photoshop.com Mobile to our global community, and we thank everyone for their patience as we worked to make this app available worldwide,” the company said.

AT&T ranks dead last in Consumer Reports study
Apple's exclusive iPhone carrier, AT&T, ranked dead last in just about every category in this week's Consumer Reports survey. In 19 of 26 the cities surveyed, AT&T was ranked the worst. Oh, FYI, last month Consumer Reports had the iPhone 3GS and 3G at #1 & 2 in the smartphone category and we all know that MacBooks and iMacs are perennial top-of-listers.
Perhaps it's time for Apple and its #1 Consumer Reports brand to consider shopping the iPhone out to different carriers? It seems a bit strange that Apple is asking its customers (who demand the highest quality of service in Apple products) to sign a two year pact with the worst carrier (by far) in the US.

Psystar's agreed to be deemed liable for illegally copying OS X Leopard, bypassing the OS X kernel encryption in violation of the DMCA, and breaching Apple's EULA, all to the tune of $2,675,050. In return, Apple's dropping its various trademark and unfair competition claims, and has promised to hold off on collecting any cash until the various appeals have run their course.

Spring Design denied injunction on sales of Barnes & Noble Nook
This shouldn't be seen as an indicator of future rulings, but Spring Design has been denied its injunction to halt Barnes & Noble from selling the Nook. Cisco confirms FlipShare TV wireless streaming device
Cisco Systems has officially announced the FlipShare TV wireless distribution system that had surfaced in FCC filings late last month. Confirming earlier speculation, the device transmits video signals between a computer and a TV. Like the company's Flip recorders, the system is designed with simplicity in mind. The package includes a USB key to attach to a computer, while a small box receives the feed on the TV side.

Google halts development of Gears, makes room for HTML 5
Well, we've known for a while that Google was throwing considerable weight behind HTML 5, and that one of the purposes of the markup language is to do away with plug-ins for Internet apps, so it makes sense that eventually Gears would go the way of the Dodo. But so soon? Linus Upson, the man in charge of both the Chrome browser and Chrome OS engineering teams, has announced that the company is done developing the software. "We are not driving forward in any meaningful way [on Gears]," the man said in an interview with PC Magazine. Flip Video FlipShare TV beams video to the big screen
We first saw the Cisco FlipShare TV hit the FCC just over a month ago, and now that's it's official (well, official in the sense that Walt Mossberg broke the embargo by two hours) we're still sort of underwhelmed and a little befuddled -- although it's made by Cisco, the Flip-focused media player doesn't actually connect to your home WiFi network. Instead, the FlipShare software transmits data from your computer using a proprietary USB dongle, which means the player itself is useless unless your computer is on with Flip's funky FlipShare software running and the dongle connected. Mac Games announces Zen Stones puzzle game
Mac Games has announced Zen Stones, a new puzzle game that challenges players to match at least three zen blocks based on color. The game interface presents an outside border made of various colored blocks, while several blocks have been placed in the middle of the game board. The object of the game is to clear stones out of the middle by clicking on the outer blocks and sending them either vertically or horizontally across the board into the middle stones, in an attempt to match the colors.

Rumpus 6.2 adds Growl support, new iPhone interface
Maxum Develipment on Monday released Rumpus 6.2, the latest version of its FTP program for Mac. The update features an improved iPhone interface for simpler navigation and media viewing, as well as an integrated ìDrop Shipî function which enables users to send e-mails containing URL links to file downloads. New file-search capabilities can find files either by name or content. The function is powered by SpotLight and protects users against unauthorized access to personal data.

GE and Comcast finalize majority stake in NBC Universal
Comcast and General Electric have allegedly finalized a deal that will land Comcast a 51 percent majority stake in NBC Universal, unnamed sources told CNBC. The sources claim only paperwork remains to be finished as the companies prepare to officially announce the merger. Vivendi is expected to quickly finish signing an agreement to sell its stake, which sits at 20 percent.

Microsoft shifting internal focus to Windows 8 in July 2010
Ah, the tormented life of a Microsoft employee. You spend a few years of your life nurturing a product, teaching it some new tricks, and before you know it you have to release it into the wild and start all over again. Coincidentally, Microsoft also seems to do a lot of hiring during that tumultuous switchover period, and its latest round of job postings have offered a few clues as to what we can expect in Windows 8, and when the company plans to focus on it in earnest. Square gives iPhones, notebooks on-the-spot payment
Square today took the covers off of a new mobile payment system that stands to potentially overhaul how customers pay at retail and restaurants. Created by early Twitter pioneer Jack Dorsey, the self-titled service currently uses a scanning dongle that attaches to an iPhone, iPod touch or notebook through the 3.5mm headphone jack. The add-on scans a credit card and processes the payment through an online system without having to use a relatively expensive commercial card reader and service.

Comcast deal to buy NBC is done, will be announced Thursday
We told you we had a feeling this thing was happening -- less than a day after GE consolidated ownership of NBC Universal in preparation to spin it off and sell a controlling stake to Comcast, CNBC is reporting that the deal is actually done and will be announced Thursday morning. As rumored from the start, Comcast will now own 51 percent of NBC to GE's 49 percent, and the new company will fold in Comcast's various content assets, which means the new NBC will rival Disney in size. Samsung Launches 3-bit Cell-based NAND Flash Memory
Samsung announced to have started mass production of Flash NAND MLC chips featuring 3 bits per cell and engraved at 30 nm. The availability of 3 bit instead of 2 on the current MLC doubles the density of chips by 50%. The thinner engraving will offer identical storage capacity in smaller format, or larger space for identical current format.
This card will initially be dedicated to the production of 8 GB micro SD cards, before finding its way in USB keys. For SSD, one will need to wait, as this 3-bit memory will be slower and offer less operations per second than the current chips used in SSDs.

A NVIDIA Quadro FX for iMac?
With the new Core i5 and i7-based iMac models, Apple demonstrated that one can offer an All-in-one computer with performance levels similar to those of a workstation as the Mac Pro, while remaining in a rather small enclosure. One can still complain about a small point: one can not change the graphic card/GPU.
