Game of Thrones HBO's premiere series wraps up season two this weekend, and while we're not going to spoil things (yeah we read ahead via wiki summaries, we're weak) we're pretty sure that someone will die in this episode. Apple rejecting apps with Flattr in-app donation system

A micro-payment service that was allowing in-app donations has been removed from one of its own patrons' apps, with Apple determining that the service, regardless of its good intentions, violates App Store rules. The service, Flattr, was trying to allow visitors to podcasts and websites to be able to "tip" the operators by simply clicking a Flattr button on the site they are visiting. Since it was a donation, Apple wouldn't collect its customary 30 percent.

Kurios: iPad der 1. Generation mit 2 Dock-Anschlüssen und SwitchBoardBei eBay ist erneut ein Prototyp aus Apples Entwicklungslaboren aufgetaucht. Diesmal handelt es sich um ein iPad der 1. Generation mit 16GB Speicher. Anders als das fertige Produkt weist dieses Exemplar doppelt vorhandene Dock-Anschlüsse auf: Einen an gewohnter Stelle unterhalb des Home Buttons und einen zweiten an der Längsseite des Gehäuses (siehe Foto). Before the iPad debuted, but not known to outsiders until later, Apple seriously considered a design that would incorporate two 30-pin dock connectors, and got as far as the prototyping stage. An Ebay auction that appeared today shows a 16GB iPad prototype with the second dock connector, which was dropped in the final design. Foxconn said to be producing Apple TV set, raising wages

Quoting a Chinese publication source in two otherwise-unrelated stories, two prominent business sites have both reported new stories about Foxconn, Apple's primary manufacturing partner for its various products, particularly iOS devices. Goldman Sachs lists Apple at the top for hedge funds holdings

Browett to move up raises for Apple Store workers to June 30

As one his first public actions as Apple's head of retail, John Browett is advancing the timetable for rolling out Apple raises for it's Apple Store employees by three months, with the raises now scheduled to kick in starting June 30 rather than the previously-planned September 30. The raises are in addition to new Mac and iPad discounts given to the employees earlier this year. Raises will be between one and five percent of current salary.

LG creates five-inch full HD LCD display for smartphones

LG Display has introduced a full HD LCD screen for smartphones. The new display packs a higher pixels-per-inch count than the 326ppi Retina Display used on the iPhone, and is a 30 percent increase compared to LG's own 4.5-inch predecessor. Based on an Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) technology, the screen can push out 440ppi at a resolution of 1920x1080. Amazon offering prepaid SIM cards in Japan

Amazon will be the first foreign company to offer a prepaid wireless service in Japan. Nikkei [account required] reports prepaid SIM cards with 500MB preallocated to it will be sold for 1,980 Yen ($25) through the website, and as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), will be carried by NTT Docomo's LTE network. Absinthe jailbreak gets 1.1 million iOS downloads in 3 days

The Chronic-Dev Team has announced that around 1.1 million users have already jailbroken their iOS device using the latest version of the Greenpois0n Absinthe 2.0 hack. The number of users choosing to install the hack is considerable, given that it was launched for iOS 5.1.1 just last Friday with 211,401 new iPad users among them.
