Nook Audio pops up on Barnes & Noble's site, with no e-ink to speak of

What the heck? Did Barnes & Noble score a deal with Dr. Dre? Is the whole reading thing just not doing it for the company anymore? Whatever the case may be, it seems that the Nook name is ready to branch out a bit from the e-reader space. After first appearing in name alone on the very suspicious date of April 1st, the Nook Audio has finally been pictured -- and it looks a heck of a lot like branded headphones. We've reached out to the company for comment. We'll let you know when we get to the bottom of this one.

Sergey Brin clarifies Apple, Facebook critique

Earlier this week, an interview with Google co-founder Sergey Brin appeared on the Guardian. In his dialogue, Brin talked about threats to the public internet and mentioned government censorship, Apple and Facebook as "very powerful forces" working against internet freedom. Apple seeds third developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion

Apple is now seeding a third developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion. The new build is listed as 12A178q, as opposed to the previous one's 12A154q. The OS is still saddled with a number of known issues, including several related to FileVault. Canceling the preview installer's restart, for instance, may prevent people from entering a password until Disk Utility is used to unlock and repair a volume; some installations on top of OS X 10.7.2 may fail if the older OS has FileVault enabled. Goldman Sachs projects AAPL will hit $750

Goldman Sachs sees a rosy future for Apple despite recent stock dips, expecting stock prices to hit $750 and advising investors to buy ahead of next Tuesday's earnings report. Apple releases third preview build of OS X Mountain Lion for developers

Apple has pushed the third preview of OS X Mountain Lion to developers. A number of known issues are still present in the preview, including booting issues with FileVault enabled and installing Mountain Lion on a system running OS 10.7.2 or earlier with FireVault turned on could fail. Ein Jahr ist meine Beschwerde über das eher umständliche Bloggen am iPad nun her. Und ziemlich genau ein Jahr nach meinem Artikel ist nun Blogsy mit einem Update erschienen, welches auch Tumblr unterstützt. Wie bloggt es sich denn so?Kurz zu meiner bisherigen Vorgehensweise: Ich habe die Artikel in Writer vorgeschrieben. Da Writer zwischen iPhone, iPad und Mac per iCloud synchronisiert eignet es sich sehr gut für das Vorschreiben von Artikeln. Der Artikel wurde anschließend in die Web-Oberfläche von Tumblr kopiert und dort formatiert, evt. auch bebildert. Bilder kommen aus unterschiedlichen Quellen und werden mit Acorn skaliert, mit dem ImageOptimizer verkleinert und in einem Public Folder von Dropbox abgelegt. Verizon adds $25, 100MB international data plan

Verizon has just expanded its global data plan offerings with a new, $25/100MB monthly plan that allows them to access the web in 120 countries outside the US. The new plan goes into effect on Monday, April 23, and replaces the previous, $30/50MB, $75/150MBm and $125/300MB options. If roaming users go over the 100MB cap, they will automatically get another 100MB for the same $25, being notified of it through text.

Configurator 1.0.1 fixes numerous bugs

Apple has released a new version of Configurator, its Mac utility for the mass deployment of iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. The v1.0.1 update fixes a number of problems, such as trouble importing enterprise apps packaged as IPA files. Redemption codes are a special focus: they can now be reused if an original device is erased, and apps with commas in their titles are newly supported. Likewise, the number of redemption codes remaining for an app should be properly displayed.

Verizon offers to give up some 700MHz space for cable deal

Verizon has said it would put up some of its 700MHz wireless spectrum up for sale if it's cleared to go ahead with its cable company spectrum deal. The move would give up sections of the A and B blocks of 700MHz space it runs in Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Blurb and CGX partner for print-on-demand workflow

Ebooks are the current darlings of the publishing world, but there is still a huge demand for printed materials. Blurb, an online platform for designing, publishing, marketing, and selling pro-quality books, has partnered with commercial printing firm Consolidated Graphics, Inc (CGX) to produce an Adobe InDesign plug-in that works with a new service called Publish to allow print-on-demand books in runs as small as one. Publish lets designers use their familiar friend Adobe InDesign to prepare their projects. The plug-in has templates for four cover formats, five paper types, and eight trim sizes. The plug-in then moves projects to Blurb, where they can be proofed, given automated pre-flight checks, and then ordered via credit card. Blurb notes that the workflow speeds

A journalist writing for Fast Company, Rob Schlender, says he has discovered hours of unreleased audio interviews with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. In all the interviews span a period of 25 years. "Many [tapes] I had never replayed -- a couple hadn't even been transcribed before now," says Schlender. "Some were interrupted by his kids bolting into the kitchen as we talked. AT&T announces new GoPhone data packages are coming on April 22nd

Earlier today, AT&T announced it's bringing new data packages to its pay-as-you-go plans starting on April 22nd. These packages will be available to folks using either the $50 Unlimited Talk & Text or the cheaper, text-only $25 offering. With the recent changes GoPhone's data bundles will now give you 1GB, 200MB and 50MB for $25, $15 and $5, respectively. HTC One X owners, remember this number: 1.28.401.9. All right, you don't actually have to memorize the thing, you just have to go into the Software Updates section of your phone's settings to grab the decimal-happy upgrade for your beloved new smartphone. According to Android Central, the Android 4.0.3-based upgrade brings some "minor changes" to the smartphone, addressing some menu key and brightness issues among others. Goldman Sachs ups Apple target to $750 ahead of Q2 results

Goldman Sachs analyst Bill Shope has raised his price target for Apple stock from $700 to $750, recommending a buy ahead of the company's Q2 results, due to be released next week. He suggests that the quarter will be another impressive one for Apple, and largely dismisses several concerns about Apple profits. Symantec: 140.000 Macs sind noch immer mit Flashback infiziert

Filed under: OS X Nachdem Apple zwei Fixes für die Malware Flashback per Software-Update veröffentlicht hatte, ist die Zahl der infizierten Macs zwar deutlich gesunken, laut Symantec aber nicht in der erwarteten Geschwindigkeit. Seit dem 9. April ist die Zahl von 600.000 auf aktuell etwa 140.000 gefallen, Symantec hatte aber damit gerechnet, dass es jetzt eigentlich unter 100.000 Rechner sein müssten und wundert sich. Kann natürlich auch schlicht daran liegen, dass doch nicht jeder alle fünf Minuten das Software-Update macht, aber in diesem Fall können wir euch das nur wärmstens ans Herz legen.

Intel's Q1 sees flat revenue, sequential dip in PCs

Intel had relatively lackluster results that showed a dampened PC environment with most of its hope resting in the future. Its revenue was flat from year to year, at $12.9 billion. Intel hadn't divulged its exact PC Client group revenue in 2011 results, but it noted that the mostly desktop- and notebook-focused group's revenue was down seven percent from this past fall, to $8.5 billion.
