Samsung Access, AT&T's other MediaFLO launch phone

Filed under: Cellphones, Portable Video We already know that the Prada-esque LG CU920 Vu is one of AT&T's two launch handsets in support of its MediaFLO-based mobile TV rollout, but what's the other one the carrier mentions? Mobiledia has scored gorgeous shots of this not-so-gorgeous phone, the A827 "Access" from Samsung, and the combination of AT&T branding and a dedicated "TV" button next to the d-pad has us b

Netgear's WNDA3100 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB adapter spotted in FCC

Filed under: Networking Nothing too earth-shattering here, but it seems that those in the market for a dual band Wireless-N USB adapter could benefit from holding off just a wee bit longer. Netgear's forthcoming WNDA3100 has found its way into the FCC's doors, and while it doesn't look to speak with aliens or any other fancy stuff, it does support WEP and WPA / WPA2. Way too excited about this thing? Hit up the read link for test photos and a preliminary user's manual -- that ought to quell your inexplicable curiosity, right?

Krown's handheld teaches you sign language

Filed under: Handhelds Sign language pocket tools aren't all that uncommon, but Krown's latest just exemplifies utility. This relatively low-fi device can reportedly display "short video clips showing how to sign any of 4,500 stored words in US sign language." According to Nikko Citigroup's Kota Ezawa, the biggest culprit for such an improvement is the "reduction in the parts count." Stil

PMP51 "MP4 MP3 super game" does it all

Filed under: CES, Gaming, Handhelds, Portable Audio, Portable Video While a bit vague in the whole naming department, this new no-name OEM PMP51 PMP is actually packing a quite a spec sheet. The primary focus of the handheld is supposedly 32 bit gaming, but sadly SNES is nowhere to be found. But lucky for us there's Game Boy Advance play, in addition to Game Boy, Game Boy Color and NES. The 3-inch screen should show off that em

Mactopia gets a simplified, Office-like facelift

In anticipation of Office 2008ís upcoming release at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Microsoft has given the Mactopia page a facelift, with a design reminiscent of the Office Mac site. The redesigned page is fairly lean, opting for an automated search of Microsoftís main site for Mac software, rather than supplying a list of products on the left-ha

How would you change Pleo?

Filed under: Features, Robots Ah, Pleo. The world's freshest, friendliest and most unpredictable robot dinosaur. At first glance, it's hard to imagine changing anything about this bundle of cuteness, but for the loyal souls that waited through agonizing months of delays and kept the faith when everyone else was crying vaporware, we're sure they've got a few pointers for improvement. Granted, those who fell head over heels for this creature as soon as the first press shot surfaced may simply be thrilled to final

Macworld 2008 banners popping up: "There's something in the air"

Filed under: Misc. Gadgets Gotta love those vague, suggestive statements Apple puts on its event banners before the big show. This year's Macworld Expo banners read "There's something in the air" -- but even if that something isn't a whole lot of new wireless / cellular gear, there's certainly no shortage of breathable hype.[Photo courtesy of Andrew S.] Permalink | Ema

Video: Hands-on with Gibson's Robot Guitar

Filed under: CES, Features, Misc. Gadgets Sure, it's been out for a little while, but considering how many Engadget editors play guitar (and the fact that Pete just started RCRD LBL), we figured we had to stop by Gibson's booth-bus complex and give the Robot Guitar a shot. The self-tuning axe actually weighs a little less than a regular Les Paul, even though it has gigantic motorized tuners and all that extra circuitry. To activate the system, you pull out a special tone knob and select one of
