11% of U.S cellphone sales now happen in Apple Stores

Physical Apple retail stores now account for 11 percent of all US cellphone sales (smartphone and feature phones), according to a new report by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (via AllThingsD). That's a pretty astounding number for a couple of reasons. First, there are fewer than 260 Apple retail stores in America and the company only sells one type of "cellphone" -- the iPhone. The 11 percent figure shows just how much power Apple has in retail and in its iPhone product. Outside of Apple, Verizon stores sell 57% of all American cellphones, and Best Buy sells about 13%. As for iPhone sales only, Apple retail stores sell 25% of iPhones in the US, with AT&T selling 21%
