Amazon has just announced the Amazon Art marketplace, giving users access to 40,000 pieces of art from 150 dealers and galleries. Over 4,500 artists will be represented at launch, making the site one of the largest online collections available, according to the company. Amazon said it aims to "demystify the world of art," by giving users a "gallery experience" while browsing collections from Impressionism to Folk Art. High-end galleries like Paddle8 and Holden Luntz will be represented from the US, UK, the Netherlands and Canada, featuring pieces ranging from $200 Clifton Ross photographic prints to a $1.45 million Monet.
