Kindle Fire HD 8.9 launched in Europe and Japan, gets a permanent price cut in the USA

Amazon today launched its largest slate, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, in Europe -- or the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, to be exact -- and Japan, where it's been up for pre-order since the end of February.
