WSJ: Microsoft to offer discounted Windows 8 software for future small touchscreen laptops

In a bid to push the development of small, touch-enabled laptops, Microsoft has started to offer discounts on Windows 8 and Office 2013 to manufacturing OEMs. According to WSJ and Digitimes reports, these price cuts would be reflected in products in the fall. The deal includes Windows 8 plus Office for $30 -- a bundle that previously cost $120. Microsoft hasn't made any official comment on the rumor, although the discounted licensing was apparently offered late last month and will be specific to laptops with touch-enabled screens smaller
