Apple 3Q 2012 earnings reported: Another banner quarter

Apple has announced its third quarter 2012 earnings, and the numbers are once again spectacular. The company posted quarterly revenues of $35 billion, up from $28.6 billion a year ago. Net profit was $8.8 billion or $9.32 per diluted share, up from $7.3 billion last year or $7.79 per diluted share. Apple sold 26.0 million iPhones, which indicates 28 percent growth over the year-ago quarter. The big surprise was that the company sold 17.0 million iPads during the quarter, up 84 percent over the previous year. 4 million Macs were sold, representing a 2 percent increase over last year's quarter.
