Samsung has taken the lead as the worldís number one mobile phone maker according to the latest report from analytics firm IDC. The report says that Samsung has achieved the number one spot due to its booming smartphone sale in a global smartphone market that grew by 42.5 percent year over year in Q1 2012. Total smartphone shipments for the quarter were 144.9 million, which compared with 101.7 million sales for the same period last year.
