Study: final week of 2011 was best week ever for apps

Application analytics service Flurry, following up on its report that 6.8 million Android and iOS devices were activated on Christmas Day, now reports not only a record-breaking 20 million new devices total over "Christmas week" (the period beginning with and including Christmas and running to New Year's Day), but a 60 percent increase in apps downloaded, pushing the combined iOS and Android app total to over 1.2 billion apps in a week, a new record.
