NPD data may point to 5.3 million Macs by end of quarter

Apple is on track to sell between 5.1 and 5.3 million Macs by the end of the holiday quarter, says Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. The estimate is based on new data from the NPD Group, indicating that US Mac sales were up 19 percent year-over-year in October. Sales are only expected to accelerate in the run-up to Christmas; Wall Street consensus for the quarter sits at 5.2 million units.
