Apple files for patents on multiple OLED backlights

Apple has filed for a patent on using multiple OLED backlights in devices, notes Patently Apple. The application suggests that the technology could be applied to several devices, including iPads, iPhones, Cinema Displays, MacBooks, and iMacs. Apple's concept would not only theoretically produce better illumination, but also potentially reduce the thickness of devices.
