DevChat: Talking with Juuso Salonen about Radio Silence

Sometimes you want to learn more about the story behind an app. TUAW decided to test out a new series idea, which we call DevChat. In this series, we talk directly to app developers to explore an application in greater depth. We try to learn why an application was built, what motivated its development, and how it works. Today, TUAW talks to Juuso Salonen, the developer of Radio Silence. Radio Silence is an OS X application that allows you to control which applications are allowed to phone home with personal information. You may be surprised to learn how many apps do that, and why. Salonen explains who the worst offenders are (think Adobe), and how his app helps fill an important niche in personal security.
