Stairways Software, makers of Keyboard Maestro and other Mac apps, have introduced a new program called Sight Words, designed to help beginning readers master the most common English words, which in turn gives them a head-start on reading generally. The program can keep records on the progress of multiple children -- or an entire classroom -- and tracks progress on each child. Sight Words includes a library of 2000 words, and automatically ranks words from easiest to hardest giving the children the easiest words to master first, which encourages continued progress.
