Success has been reached with an improved iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak, according to iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd. A new YouTube video depicts a fourth-generation iPod touch being jailbroken while untethered. Current jailbreaking utilities, namely redsn0w, require v4.2.1 devices to be connected to a computer via USB during the jailbreaking process.
