Fresh clues to why AT&T hasn't enabled iPhone for VoIP

Two reports this morning may tell us why Apple and AT&T have so far failed to enable VoIP calls across the carrier’s 3G network - suggesting the delay’s a reflection of AT&T’s network need. After all, visitors to this year’s NAMM show noted problems with that same network - what would happen if there was even more traffic (attempting) to take place? GigaOm’s Om Malik notes that Apple and AT&T have come under continued criticism for not allowing VoIP over today’s 3G. While many believe Apple and the carrier are blocking it in order to hang onto voice revenues, Malik observes:
