New York Times to coordinate pay site with Apple tablet launch?

New York Magazine wonders if the timing of the New York Times' announcement that it will go to a paid model in the coming months coincides with Apple's talet launch, which also is expected to go public in the coming months. Bill Keller, Executive Editor for the New York Times recently told an internal meeting of NY Times employees: "I'm hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate" Apple CEO Steve Job often uses the New York Times when demonstrating the iPhones capabilities.  In fact, at the original introduction of the iPhone, when demonstrating mobile Safari the first time, the New York Times was the first real site that Steve Jobs demonstrated.
