Intel Wants to Further Increase the Market for its ATOM

While the ATOM has been the driving force for Intel to cross the economic slow-down, the company still has high expectation for this CPU and might even further increase its market share by cutting prices. New models will be released to open up new opportunities: Dual core ATOM D510 associated with the Chipset NM10, including a graphical engine, will be dedicated to the Nettop market for hardware models featuring 160 GB of storage space and 1 GB of RAM. The maximum price recommended by Intel should be 299 USD. The ATOM N450 will have only one core but will include a graphical chipset. It will be dedicated to the still growing market of netbook with price ranging from 249 to 299 USD. As Intel defines specifications of such notebook, manufacturers will have to offer display with max 10.2", 1 GB of RAM and 120 GB HD or 20 GB SSD.
