About the 18 Months Average Lifetime of Time Capsule Units

As we mentioned it in the previous related news, we will keep you updated with the alarming number of cases of Time Capsule units dying suddenly after 18 months of issue-less usage. We previously reported that bad capacitor located in the PSU were dying giving users no other choice than adapting a new PSU or buying a new one. If it does not look like a real pandemic, one can find many new reports everyday on Apple discussion forums. Most of those units seem to have been purchased around March 2008 (so early batch would be affected as it was the case for the APX). WE also encourage unfortunate owners to report the failure to Apple.You could also argue with a representative from Apple support or customer satisfaction service if you have a dead TC on your hands. It seems that Apple might exchange some units depending on parameters we currently do not know.
