Apple and Toshiba: Major Contract for Flash Memory Supply

Due to the success of iPods and iPhone, Apple requires increasing amount of flash-based storage unit and represent an always larger customers on this market. It seems that supply of NAND chips is becoming a key goal for Apple. Today, Apple and toshiba signed contract for the supply of flash memory storage unit. Volumes are so important that Toshiba had to bring almost all its production lines in activity after switching them off due to the crisis, to decrease unsold volume for preserving margins. As an additional proof that NAND memory is a key component for Apple, the company agreed to give to Toshiba an impressive pre-payment of 500 millions USD One could also think that such volume of NAND might also be related to a future product to be launch by Apple in coming months and requiring a huge amount of flash-based storage units Mac Tablets?
