New iPhone hardware to have digital compass

BGR has some screengrabs of some debugging screen in the new beta releases of the iPhone 3 OS.  It looks like those magnetometer (digital compass) features of the new iPhone hardware we saw earlier are legit-er. This brings up some interesting possibilites when combined with video and still pictures.  The GPS metatags combined with direction can build 3D landscapes.
