If you tried to repair authorization on your computer after having installed Leopard, you might have already noticed how it is now resource consuming.
Several process are being launched when repairing authorization:
- mds requiring 20% of a 3.0GHZ Xeon
- installdb requiring 97% of a single Xeon core
- then repair_packages requiring 97% of CPU resources!
If on a Quad Core Xeon, such resource-consuming process will be carried out quickly, it might take much more time on a less powerful Mac Intel, and even more on older PPC-based models which might simply be not usable for about one hour!
