Cablevision's Optimum Online live TV streaming now available on Windows and Mac
It's been a little over a year since Cablevision launched Optimum for iPad with live streaming of all of its channels to the tablet, and now subscribers can experience the same thing on their computer with the Optimum for Laptops app. Available for Mac or PC it has a brand new interface and searchable guide, as well as the ability to manage DVR recordings and change the channel on cable boxes in the house. Neues iPhone: Analyst glaubt an “Mutter aller Hardware-Upgrades”

Facebook revises user policies after complaints, questions
Following a lengthy period of questions, comments and complaints about the difficulty users have in controlling privacy, Facebook has posted a series of proposed revisions to its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, and is extending the comment period. The company continues to struggle with balance between gathering information about users for the benefit of both other users and advertisers, while addressing concerns of users, most of whom do not fully understand Facebook's data collection.

Mac Office 2011 SP2 update pulled due to Outlook DB bug
After first advising users on how to work around the flaw, Microsoft today pulled the Service Pack 2 update for its Office 2011 Mac software in order to find the cause of an issue that was corrupting identity databases in its Outlook e-mail client. Though the SP2 update is still available for manual download, the company has stopped pushing SP2 out using AutoUpdate until it resolves the problem, according to a post on its Office for Mac blog.

WPC updates Qi standard, increases inductive charging distance to 40mm
It seems that Power Matt just got a bit more, er, powerful. The Wireless Power Consortium announced today that it's improved the Qi inductive-charging standard to "include longer range magnetic resonance wireless charging." Apple gets 15-year tax exemption for Oregon datacenter
Apple has reached an agreement with the town of Prineville and Crook County in return for the placement of its Oregon datacenter. The deal will give Apple a 15-year property tax exemption. Museum display company claims iPad, iPhone violate patent
A lawsuit filed in a California US District Court this week has alleged that Apple violated the intellectual property rights of a Pennsylvania company that developed touchscreen interaction technologies in the mid-1990s. Flatworld Interactives claims that a patent it holds, USPTO patent 43,318, covers touchscreen-based interactions such as touching an object to select it and flicking images off of a screen.

OpenPhoto is an open, cloud-based photo storage alternative for iPhone
