iMac rumor mill suggests new models could be coming next week

This one is obviously still very much in rumor territory, but a couple of separate reports have cropped up today that suggest Apple could be set to debut some updated iMacs as soon as next week. That includes a report from 9 to 5 Mac that iMac orders are being delayed until May 2nd, despite the fact that they're still listed as shipping within 24 hours on Apple's website, and a separate confirmation from a trusted source of the site, who says that Apple will stop shipping iMacs to retailers this week in advance of next week's supposed release. That's further backed up by a report from Mac Rumors, which cites another source who says that Apple will be changing the promotion

Amazon Germany lists Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on DVD

A blog called Apple Bitch points to an Amazon Germany listing of Mac OS X 10.7 which says the Lion OS will ship on a DVD format. This hints that the update may actually be available as a more traditional DVD purchase, instead of the all-digital Mac App Store download that the preview was released as, but then again this could just be a default listing for the software, set to become available later this year.

Imagine a world where Nokia's N-Gage is the mobile platform of choice -- there's no iOS, no Android, and Nintendo's 3D ventures ended mercifully with the Virtual Boy. It's a world where the Nckia NG belongs. In our universe, a knockoff of the stillborn Nokia 7700 doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense, even with a MicroSD slot and added buttons for dialing. Yahoo buys TV companion app developer IntoNow and its database of sounds

Earlier this year IntoNow launched its iPhone app that could identify what TV show you were watching by the audio Shazam-style and then share it with others over Facebook or Twitter, pull in additional information, or add the DVD to your Netflix queue. Now, Yahoo has purchased the company and according to the press release (after the break) wants to integrate its SoundPrint tech with its existing services including the Connected TV platform. Nächste Generation der MacBook Pro’s mit neuem Design?

MacRumors soll aus einer verlässlichen Quelle gehört haben, dass die nächste Version von Apple’s MacBook Pro-Linie das erste Mal seit Jahren mit einem neuen Design kommen soll. Bereits im Februar, kurz vor dem letzten Update, wurde darüber spekuliert, danach wurde das diesjährige Update dann als das letzte „inkrementale“, also das letzte mit nur marginalen optischen Änderungen bezeichnet. Apple verschiebt Liefertermine - iMac-Update imminent

Ein Leser von 9to5Mac bekam eine Email von Apple, seine iMac werde nicht wie geplant, sondern einige Tage später, nämlich am zweiten Mai verschickt. Zuvor hatte man über ein anstehendes iMac-Update spekuliert, mit dem unter anderem Thunderbolt, Sandy Bridge und ein Grafikkarten-Update kommen sollen. iPhone-Prototyp mit größerem Display taucht auf

Nachdem bereits einige Gerüchte, Mockups und Fakes des nächsten iPhones mit 3,7-Zoll-Bildschirm aufgetaucht sind, scheint heute das erste echte Bild erschienen sein. Unerwarteter Weise ist es dazu noch weiß, warum auch nicht. Was der ganzen Geschichte etwas Glaubhaftigkeit verleiht ist der Annäherungssensor, der bereits bei dem in England offiziell verkauften weißen iPhone 4 aufgetaucht ist. Vielleicht ist das sogar der Prototyp, den Spiele-Entwickler erhalten haben, um mit dem A5-Prozessor auf dem iPhone entwickeln zu können, aber das ist eher unwahrscheinlich. Robert Noyce received the landmark U.S. patent on April 25, 1961, going on to found Intel Corporation with Gordon E. Moore (of Moore's Law fame) in 1968. T-Mobile's Bobsled temporarily suspends service in first week

It's a sad day for Bobsled's one-eyed chat bubble monster, as T-Mobile has just announced it's temporarily shuttering the recently launched VoIP service. A statement released on Bobsled's Facebook profile revealed it is "voluntarily and temporarily suspending service" of its week-old app to "ensure that the Bobsled experience is clearly differentiated and is not mistaken for a Facebook created property." Cydia back up after multi-day outage

Good news for the jailbreak community as Cydia is now back up and running. Along with many other companies, the alternative app store for iOS devices has been down for several days due to Amazon's highly-publicized E2C Cloudfront server outage. During this downtime, Cydia suspended all downloads, purchases and updates. Users of the jailbreak app store were greeted with a notice that all activities were down. Apple abandons effort to secure "POD" trademark

Apple has apparently decided to abandon its trademark application for the term "POD". Apple filed for the trademark in Canada on July 2004. After a series of changes required by the Canadian government and extensions that span seven years, Apple has decided to abandon the patent. The abandonment procedure began on December 2010 and was finalized on April 13, 2011. The term "iPOD" is still covered by an Apple trademark, but the word "POD" is now up for grabs. Google Video shutdown halted for now, Google slinging content over to YouTube itself

Seems Google sparked a bit of spirited debate when it decided to pull the plug on Google Video, because the company's put that plan on indefinite hold, telling users that it's looking for "an easier way" to migrate its massive archives of video to YouTube. Originally, Google gave users an ultimatum to download videos (or just tap a simple "Upload Videos to YouTube" button) before it erased them for good, but now Mountain View plans to automatically transfer content to YouTube itself. Why wasn't that the plan from day one? We'd guess that hosting terabytes of streaming video isn't cheap, folks.

Los Angeles pilot program offers up to $2,000 off EV charging stations

You can already get a pretty hefty federal rebate on an electric vehicle, and it looks like at least some folks in Los Angeles can now also save a good chunk of change on an EV charging station. LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa just announced a new pilot program this week that will provide rebates of "up to $2,000" on home EV charging stations -- to the first 1,000 applicants, that is. That will apparently be expanded soon enough, however, with the city promising to begin accepting additional applications on May 1st, and eventually cover up to 5,000 EV chargers. Nintendo has just announced it plans to introduce a successor to its Wii console next year, a "playable model" of which will be shown off at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles coming up on June 7th. Retina Display bald auch mit OS X?

Bereits im iPhone 4 und dem iPod touch der vierten Generation ist ein „Retina Display“ verbaut - Ein Display, auf dem bei Benutzung mit normaler Entfernung zum Auge keine Pixel erkennbar sind.
