Canon printer drivers hitting Software Update

As if Safari and iOS updates weren't enough for one day: Do you use a Canon printer (including all-in-one printer/scanners) with your Mac running Snow Leopard? If so, you have an exciting new update waiting for you. There's no indication of what the new Canon Printer Drivers 2.5 version actually changes, so fire up Software Update, cross your fingers and hope your printing experience magically improves. Verizon FiOS TV 1.9 software update adds an HD guide, DVR enhancements

Originally projected to launch in Q4 of 2010, Verizon has finally started pushing out version 1.9 of its Media Guide software to set-top boxes in Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and Harrisburg. Apple distributes Xcode 4.0.2, Leopard security updates

Two more software updates have been released by Apple, most importantly Xcode 4.0.2. The update is essential for iOS developers, as it adds compatibility with the new iOS 4.3.2 firmware. It also incorporates an assortment of bugfixes, for example addressing mapping models in Core Data, OpenGL ES apps in iOS Simulator, and LLVM compiler 2.0.

BlackBerry PlayBook reviews say that it's not an iPad killer

RIM is aiming to launch its PlayBook tablet on April 19, but reviews of this QNX-powered tablet started to hit the wire last night. The consensus among reviewers suggests the PlayBook will not threaten Apple's dominance in the tablet market. FCC opens docket to look at AT&T/T-Mobile merger

The FCC on Thursday said it had opened a docket (PDF) for its formal investigation into AT&T's proposed buyout of T-Mobile. The agency, along with the Department of Justice, will look into whether the buyout will hurt competition by consolidating the number of carriers. A full investigation will have to wait until AT&T and T-Mobile formally submit their proposal to the government on April 21.

Apple reiterates spring timeframe for white iPhone

The white iPhone 4 is still on track to ship this spring, according to Apple. The timeframe is the same one the company has clung to since October. Apple is also refusing to say which carrier (or carriers) will be the first to get white models, despite a Bloomberg report claiming that both AT&T and Verizon will get the hardware. Scroll Reverser brings Lion, iOS reverse scrolling to Snow Leopard

One of the more surprising features of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion has been the change to reverse scrolling. With reverse scrolling, your hand actually moves up to scroll down a page. Apple is now seeding the iOS 4.3.2 update through iTunes. As anticipated, the firmware primarily addresses two problems. Apple a part of $75B civil rights, fraud lawsuit

Apple is a defendant in an unusual lawsuit that accuses the company of "outrageous and reckless and extreme acts against the plaintiff, with the massive theft of the plaintiff's copyrighted works, grossing millions if not billions of dollars." Update-Tag: Mit iOS 4.3.2 kommt auch Xcode 4.0.2

Apple ist fleißig heute, so wurden soeben neben dem Safari-Update, den iOS-Updates für iPod touch, iPad und iPhone auch unter anderem Xcode 4.0.2 im Dev Center veröffentlicht. Registrierte Entwickler können sich dort das Update mit Build-Nummer 4A2002a herunterladen, während der Rest noch auf ein Update im Mac App Store warten muss. Laut Apple soll dieses Update einen Bug mit OpenGL-Apps, die im iOS-Simulator auf dem Mac ausgeführt werden, beheben. Vermutlich wird auch die Kompatibilität für iOS 4.3.2 aktualisiert.[via]

Und schluckt obendrein dafür noch MicroSD-Karten. Mit 3cm Höhe sicher eine der kleinsten Kameras mit Sonderfunktion. Kostet aber leider auch fast 60 Dollar und macht natürlich nur eine Auflösung von 1280x1024 für Bilder, immerhin aber 720x480 mit 30Fps für Video.

Following its buyout of rural Verizon and Alltel assets, AT&T has announced it will begin offering cellphone service to residents of Montana. Intel and Micron on Thursdaysaid they had developed the world's first 20 nanometer NAND flash memory in what could be a leap for mobile device storage. An 8GB example chip is 30 to 40 percent smaller than the current-best 25nm process and is just over 0.18 inches squared. Millennial Media in its report for March mobile ad share showed Apple bouncing back in mobile ad share. The Verizon iPhone was credited with an 11 percent spike in iOS ad hits just over the past month. Intel confirms native USB 3.0 coming with Ivy Bridge

Intel during the Developer Forum in Beijing confirmed late Wednesday that its 2012 processor architecture would have native USB 3.0 support. IDC: PC-Markt schrumpft erstmals seit fast zwei Jahren

Der weltweite PC-Markt hat im ersten Quartal 2011 erstmals seit fast zwei Jahren kein Wachstum gegenüber dem Vorjahreszeitraum erzielt. Laut IDC gingen die Verkaufszahlen zwischen Januar und März um 3,2 Prozent auf 80,6 Millionen Stück zurück. Damit fällt das Ergebnis schlechter aus als erwartet. Sudden spike in iTunes 'The item you tried to buy is no longer available' errors

We have no idea why (sorry!), but there's apparently a surge in "missing" apps in the App Store tonight. This results in the error message "The item you tried to buy is no longer available" when you attempt to purchase. Based on our search traffic hitting this post, the problem started earlier this evening and is affecting at least the US, UK, Canadian and Australian app stores. Apple's Pages is reportedly one of the affected apps. Chances are this is a transient glitch and will be sorted out soon, so the best advice for the moment is to be patient and try again in an hour or so. If it's not cleared up by the AM hours on the East Coast we'll update this post.

IDC: Apple passes Acer to grab fourth largest, 8.5% share of US PC market

Despite a global 3.2 percent contraction in PC sales and a sharp 10.7 percent downturn in US PC shipments, Apple continued to expand Mac sales in the first quarter of 2011, claiming the number four spot among US PC sellers from Acer and expanding its market share among PCs from 7 percent in the year ago quarter to 8.5 percent.

Gartner sees Apple at 5th in PCs, iPad still crippling Acer

Gartner on Wednesday published a preliminary estimate for winter in sharp contrast to IDC's results that nonetheless shared a view that the iPad was shrinking PC sales, especially those of Acer. It saw Acer still holding on to third place in the US, but the system designer's share dropped 24.9 percent from year-to-year to put it at 11.3 percent of the US. Apple was at fifth place with 9.3 percent, but its market share grew a rapid 18.9 percent and made it the fastest-growing of the group.
