Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass Songtexte nicht gerade optimal in iTunes integriert sind. Sie können beispielsweise nicht mit Spotlight durchsucht, oder außerhalb der Song-Information angezeigt werden. Aus diesem Grund gibt es diverse Programme und Widgets, die den Song bequem und mit einer großen Schrift anzeigen, zum Mitlesen und Mitsingen. DesktopLyrics (Freeware) hat einen neuen Platz für Songtexte gefunden: den Schreibtisch. As usual, one should not change or modify a winning team, but does the improvement in iLife '08 can justify purchasing the new version?
The new "event" function in iPhoto allows you to better classify your photo (based on the date the photos were shot). New tools for editing photos have been added too, such as the one to correct wide-angle lens effect. Other tools can help to center subjects when cropping a photo. SmartBackup - Schlauer Sichern jetzt auch auf Deutsch
Backup-Software gibt es wie Sand am Meer. Die meisten Programme dieser Art zeichnen sich vor allem dadurch aus, dass sie alles andere als intuitiv zu bedienen sind. Neue RAM-Politik bei Apple?
Wer sich bislang einen iMac kaufte, musste bei einem GB RAM ab Werk seine beiden dazu zur Verfügung stehenden Steckplätze im Rechner mit zwei Speicherriegeln á 512 MB belegen. Mit dem neuen iMac aber scheint Apple dazugelernt zu haben. In den iMac-Spezifikationen wird nun angegeben, dass standardmäßig ein GB RAM mit "one SO-DIMM" enthalten ist - damit steht auf den Steckplätzen neben dem eingebauten RAM-Baustein nun ein weiterer Platz zur Verfügung.

Freenets Gewinn steigt nach der Fusion
Ein kleines Umsatzplus von 3 Prozent auf 466,9 Millionen Euro gegenüber dem ersten Quartal erzielte Freenet im ersten Quartal 2007, dem ersten vollen Quartal nach der vollzogenen Fusion mit Mobilcom im März 2007. Der Gewinn vor Steuern und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) stieg von 65,5 Millionen Euro im ersten Quartal 2007 auf 70,5 Millionen Euro.

OCZ: SPD-Daten von Speichermodulen selbst programmieren
Speichermodule für PCs verfügen über einen Flash-Baustein, in dem das "Serial Presence Detect" (SPD) gespeichert ist. Die Riegel können dem Mainboard so mitteilen, mit welchen Timings und Takten sie arbeiten können. Freenet nennt erste Zahlen nach Mobilcom-Fusion
Freenet hat seine Zahlen für das erste Quartal nach der Fusion mit Mobilcom im März diesen Jahres bekanntgegeben. Die Zahl der Mobilfunkkunden hat sich im Vergleich zum Vorjahreshalbjahr bis Ende Juni um 270.000 auf 5,24 Millionen erhöht. Im Breitband-Sektor konnte die Kundenzahl um 390.000 auf 1,22 Millionen gesteigert werden. Zum Ende des zweiten Quartals verfügte der Telekommunikationsanbieter über 11,9 Millionen Kunden, davon 6,21 Millionen Vertragskunden.

Zusammen mit dem neuen iMac-Modell kam - wie bereits erwartet - auch eine neue Apple-Tastatur auf den Markt. Nicht weiß mit Plexiglas ist diese nun, sondern silber mit weißen Tasten. Imacs demnächst im Aluminium-Outfit
Mit dem kompletten Relaunch seiner Imac-Serie hat Apple gestern, Dienstagabend, eine neue Desktop-Offensive gestartet. Ein Apple-Markenzeichen der vergangenen Jahre - die Trendfarbe Weiß - ist damit ebenso Geschichte wie das 17-Zoll-Modell. Ersetzt wurden die drei bisherigen Modelle mit zwei 20-Zoll- und einem 24-Zoll-Modell. Dabei setzt Apple analog zur Macbook-Pro-Linie auf Aluminium als Gehäusematerial. Beibehalten wurde das glänzende Display, das eine widerstandsfähige Glasfront bekam. Unverändert blieb auch das zugrunde liegende All-in-one-Konzept, das PC-Innenkomponenten und DVD-Laufwerk im Bildschirmgehäuse integriert.

Mac mini heimlich aktualisiert
Er wird dann also doch noch nicht eingestellt: Apple hat gestern nicht nur einen komplett neuen iMac vorgestellt und endlich auch die iLife- und iWork-Pakete aktualisiert, auch der Mac mini wurde still und leise aktualisiert. Die Preise wurden gesenkt, die Spezifikationen angehoben. Verbaut werden jetzt Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, 1 GB RAM sind Standard, die Festplattenkapazität wurde angehoben. SeaMonkey 1.1.4 schließt Sicherheitslücke
Nachdem die Mozilla-Entwickler die URI-Sicherheitslücke im Zusammenspiel zwischen Firefox bzw. Apple.de im neuen Design
Apple hat die deutsche Website, sowie alle anderen Apple-Websites, auf das neue Design umgestellt, welches anlässlich der World Wide Developer Conference 2007 zuerst auf der US-Amerikanischen Apple-Website eingeführt wurde. Das neue Design bietet eine deutlich verschlankte Navigation und ist eine Abkehr von der langjährig verwendeten (und oft imitierten) Aqua-Navigationsleiste. In einigen Monaten müssen die Navigationspunkte Store, Mac, iPod+iTunes, Downloads und Support etwas zusammenrücken, denn dem iPhone wird wie auf den US-Seiten eine Präsenz im Menü spendiert. Teil der Navigation ist die neue Suchfunktion, die bereits während des Tippens Ergebnisse präsentiert. Die Dashboard-Widgets sind im neuen Design stärker in die Downloads integriert, letztere Rubrik ist nur teilweise übersetzt und verweist zum Teil auf die englischsprachigen Seiten.

Neben iWork, iLife und dem neuen iMac wäre diese Neuheit wohl verblasst - und außerdem fängt die AirPort Extreme Basisstation nicht mit "i" an. iTunes wird zum Wireless Service für das iPhone?
Apple wird den mobilen Einkauf von Songs im iTunes Store unterstützen - zu dieser Einschätzung kommen die Analysten von Pike & Fischer in einem neuen Report.
