Apple unexpectedly released the Lightning to USB Cable (0.5 m) ($19) as a half-length version of its standard cord, at the same price. The length is literally the only difference here; both the Lightning and USB plugs are exactly the same dimensions as on the longer cable. The reason for the release of this new cable isn't clear, but at least it's available if you prefer it.
