As a result of the iPhone and iPad, display and touch panel makers are "under pressure" to upgrade the parts in their roadmaps, industry sources say. This includes everything from reducing power consumption and the thickness of sensors and glass to increasing the number of simultaneous touch points past 10. Displays are expected to get 1,000:1 contrast and 500 to 600 nits of brightness by the end of 2012.
