Google's SDK for building web applications that run on Google's infrastructure adds an experiment ProtoRPC library (which "provides a simple method for creating a well-defined and easy-to-use web-based RPC service"), an app_identity associated with applications ("which can be used to authenticate requests originating from the app to other services"), and more.
