Senate Democrat to propose Internet sales tax
US-based buyers making purchases on the Internet may soon need to pay state tax if a democratic senator gets his way. CNET said the legislation will be made public after April 18, the tax deadline, with Dick Durbin of Illinois, heading up the so-called Main Street Fairness Act. Durbin argued that sites such as Amazon have an unfair advantage over physical and local businesses, as buyers save on taxes.
