Taiwanese industry paper DigiTimes, which has a very mixed track record on Apple reporting, has come out with a claim that the next version of the iPhone will come with an all-new, Cortex A9-based multi-core chip called the A5 -- as well as include a larger, four-inch screen as opposed to the current 3.5-inch one. The paper also reported that iPad 2 will run on an "enhanced" A4 chip, and that Apple would be transitioning production of its chips to a different company due to the increasing competition between Apple and Samsung-manufactured Android devices.
