VAT increase poised to raise Apple's UK prices

An upcoming raise in the rate of the UK's value added tax, or VAT, will have a minor but noticeable impact on the prices of Apple hardware, reports observe. As of January 4th the VAT will rise from 17.5 percent to 20 percent. The adjustment will add as little as £1 in extra cost in the case of the iPod shuffle, but up to £85 or more in the instance of a 12-core Mac Pro.
