iPod nano hacked, could lead to new functionality

The iPod nano has been hacked to allow the device to boot with modified files. In this instance, the file that has been modified is the Springboard Plist. While the device has not been jailbroken, the work around could open up the door to the device being rooted. This could then lead to redundant movie capabilities and applications like the Calendar, carry over code from the firmware used on the previous generation iPod nano, being re-enabled.
