The Mainichi Daily News and Japan Today are citing a "market research institute" which has ranked the iPhone fifth place in Japan's dense cell phone market. This is for the July-September rankings, as Apple was seventh in the April-June quarter. Sharp is still the market leader in Japan, with Panasonic, Fujitsu and Kyocera following before Apple's singular smartphone offering.
