Apple is now the fourth-largest phone maker worldwide

Well that was fast. In just three years, Apple has become the forth-largest phone maker worldwide. According to an IDC report, Apple moved into the 4th position in the 3rd quarter of 2010, overtaking competitor Research In Motion (RIM). As of IDC's report, the top vendors are, in order: Nokia Samsung LG Electronics Apple RIM SonyEricsson Apple's ascent has also pushed SonyEricsson and Motorola out of the top five.
