Facebook's well-known developer Joe Hewitt today dismissed Google VP Andy Rubin's claims that Android was more open than iOS by pointing out limitations in Google's philosophy. He noted that Android's source code is closed only until major releases and doesn't allow outside contributions to the main release. The phone OS was a far cry from Firefox or pure Linux, since Google held virtually all the cards as to how the OS progressed.
