Intel plans new US factory, upgrading others to 22nm tech

Intel stepped up its chip production on Tuesday with plans to open a new US fabrication plant. The Oregon factory should be ready in 2013 and will primarily produce chips for research and development as Intel advances its designs. The fab as well as other efforts should lead to about 800 to 1,000 new jobs.
