Report: 278,000 iOS apps available

As Apple prepares to deliver its 4th quarter financial results, 148apps is reporting that at least 278,000 iOS apps are currently available. Specifically, there are 278,723 active apps in the US App Store (as of this writing), and just over 56,000 active publishers.
