iTunes now costing Apple over $900M a year to operate?

The iTunes Store is costing Apple at least $900 million a year to run, an estimate from asymco suggests. Based on factors like average prices, an app margin of 30 percent and a consensus-based music margin of 10 percent, Apple is presently believed to be budgeting about $75 million a month towards operational expenses. The number may be higher still if taking into account book and video transactions.
