Japan's NTT DoCoMo to launch own app store

Japan's largest cellphone carrier, NTT DoCoMo, will soon launch an app store for its handsets, its president Ryuji Yamada said Wednesday (free registration required). NTT plans to make apps available to all handsets capable of accessing its i-mode data service. Yamada added that smartphones using the store would benefit from a more open app platform.
